UNDERWAY G OING HOME ENGLAND returned to Subic Bay for the last time on January 16. There we embarked Rear Admiral William A. Myers III, and his Cruiser-Destroyer Group Three staff. Late on the 19th, we bid Subic adieu, heading for Guam. Admiral Myers flew ahead to San Diego from there, leaving his Chief of Staff, Captain Frank C. Collins, in charge.
