Its member- ship is composed of two representatives from each fraternity on the campus and Dr. D. L. MacFarlane, Dean of Men. The council formulates and promotes the rules, activi- ties, and standards common to these fra- ternities. It endeavors to establish a feeling of eo-operation between the fraternities and independent groups on the campus and to maintain friendship among the Greek or- ganizations.

SOCIETY The social organizations play an important part in our college life. Every student has the opportunity of par- ticipating in one of the groups. Tliis is one of tlic many illustrations which por- trays the democratic spirit prevailing at Emporia State. 195

The Pan Hellenic Council, an organization com- posed of three members from each sorority on the campus, formulates rush rules and settles sorority problems. It makes up a loan fund each year which is available to both sorority and non-sorority women. The annual Pan Hellenic dance is one of the social functions which promote friendship, understanding and harmony among sororities.
