English Few changes were made as the English department entered its fourth and final year of the quarter system. Course offerings were basically the same, except for a new course which was included to prepare highly moti- vated Juniors to take the advanced Placement English course next term. Students in Research Paper Classes took trips to Kutz- town State College. Mrs. Yoder returned from her sabbatical leave, and Mr. Diely of the Emmaus Jr. High faculty taught a few classes, as did Mr. Maxwell of the Foreign Language department. Plans for next year include a revision of the curriculum, whereby quarterly courses will be combined into semester and year courses. Mr. James Basara Mr. Paul R. Social Studies The Social Studies department continued its program of diversified quarterly courses with a broad spectrum of learning experi- ences. Psychology classes took field trips to New York to see Equus,” The Magic Show,” and Pippin.” Other classes went to see the Reading Museum. Anthropology stu- dents spent their time on mock archaeological digs in the rifle range. An assembly on the Republican and Democratic political parties was presented.
