Gwendolyn Zillig (President) Keyettes,” female counterpart of Key Club, emerged under the direction of Mrs. Lennon to provide service to the school and community. To raise funds Keyettes sponsored a Slave Day” on which a $1.00 fee entitled a student to a slave for a day. Taking their service responsibility seri- ously, the girls collected for Mcals-on- Wheels, assisted the Kiwanis at their annual Christmas party for retarded children, deliv- ered Thanksgiving baskets to the needy, pre- pared Valentine gifts for guests of the Phoebe Home, and took orphaned children to the movies.

Key Club Serving school and community, strength- ening relations with the Kiwanis Club, and providing vocational training, the Key Club stood by its motto, Caring — Our Way of Life.” Activities included delivering turkey bas- kets to the elderly at Thanksgiving, answer- ing Santa Claus letters from young children at Christmas, and sponsoring a School Lead- ers Banquet in the spring. In order to finance these and other service projects, the Key Club worked closely with its advisor, Mr. Wesser, to sponsor a highly profitable Donkey Basketball Game and assumed responsibility for the printing and sale of basketball programs for the season. Future Business Leaders — Future Secretaries The Future Business leaders of America organized and planned sales projects. FBLA gained valuable business experience through their sales endeavors and accrued a substantial treasury balance with which they financed a trip to Shippensburg State College to observe the Business F-ducation program. Future Secretaries Association defined its major goal as attempting to stimulate interest in the secretarial field and to encourage con- tinuing education in the secretarial profes- sion. The first program featured Mrs. Myra Sell, E.H.S. graduate, who described the latest in correspondence — the word process center. Other programs of interest were a slide pres- entation entitled Secretaries of NSA Style,” the National Secretaries Association Seminar at Lehigh Country Club, and Thoroughly Modern Millies,” by Anna Ccrvaneck. Mem- bers planning to attend college could compete for the NSA $2000 Scholarship. FSA also honored staff secretaries and secretarial stu- dents during National Secretaries Week.
