Mark Klee (Art Editor), Donna Fischer (Business Editor) Improving their skills at writing and speaking effectively, Emmaus High members of the Lehigh Valley Interscholastic Debate Association wrangled over vital issues against teams from neighboring schools. Current top- ics challenging the debaters were: Should the federal government own, operate, and dis- tribute all forms of energy?” and Should the method of selecting presidential candidates be changed?”. As the season progressed, the debaters developed confidence and poise while learning the fine art of argumentation and persuasion. After competing in four tour- naments, Emmaus placed third in the league. The main function of the Collage Staff was the production of the annual literary magazine. To achieve the goal of producing a high quality product, students engaged in many fund raising projects and in the sale of subscriptions for the magazine itself. In addi- tion to the actual production. Collage offered an opportunity for students to gain recogni- tion for their original literary efforts and pro- vided excellent experience in management and organization in a publication-oriented process. 25

National Honor Society Sixty-five senior members of the National Honor Society provided many useful sendees whenever the need arose. They offered tutor- ing programs in any subject to those students who sought help. Society members served as hosts and hostesses at Parent-Teacher Confer- ence Nights to assist visitors and be of help to faculty. Club members also welcomed new students and aided them in becoming acq- uainted with the building and offered any- needed assistance. Their two major projects were the sponsoring of a Foster Child and contributing Scholarship Award to be pre- sented to the Valedictorian at Commence- ment. OFFICERS.
