L, w ' za . . ., ...., . . ., .. . ,. ., . . ,. ,., ,1f,' li M552 .4, 4 . , , f v i - T is 'V T CLASS HISTORY While cleaning the attic of Emaus High School, the janitor stumbled upon a Four-Year Diary of the class of 1937. ln curiosity he unlocked the precious book and found an interesting history of one of the largest classes ever to graduate from Emaus high. Immediately he began to read: Year of 1933-34 ' 1 ' On a bright September morning in '33, a group of one hundred and thirty youngsters, soon to be known as Green Freshmen, assembled in the high school auditorium. The principal somehow managed to divide our mob into three sections, and we found ourselves acquainted and settled in a short time. Our first public function was an enjoyable Hallowe'en party, held at the home of a classmate. Al- ready the class showed unusual talent in presenting assembly programs and had quite a few members in the orchestra. Each of our sections took separate moonlight ' gg . hikes in the spring of the year. The year was over before anyone could say, jack 4 Robinson! - rear of 1934-55 Again the school bell called us from pleasant vacations, and we were sur- , prised to find that some of our beloved comrades and Miss Schantz, one of our faculty advisors, had failed to return. We were all so busy that mid-year examin- ' ations came upon us without warning. The athletic ability of the class was just be- ginning to bud. Quite a few 'fSophs, as members of chorus, participated in the first ' light opera, Pinafore, ever to be given by our school. The debating team furnish- Y ed good prospects along oratorical lines. Once more the divided classes took in- .-4, dividual hikes in the spring of the year. My, gosh! The faculty was already plan- L ning where to spend the summer vacation before we realized that our second year of high school life was over. ' rear of 1935-36 Returning to our alma mater we found to our sorrow that our ranks were greatly lessened and another faculty advisor, Miss Strausbaugh, missing. Our ener- gies became centered upon the big moment of the year, the junior Prom, and we Y were well-repaid for everyone declared it our best event of the year. We proudly 1 heard praises showered upon a few of our athletes in the class. Yes, the juniors were trying to make a name for themselves! We were fortunate in forensic, dra- matic, and musical Helds. The Girls' Trio enjoyed a period of popularity and 'ffl were given the opportunity to perform on several occasions with the famous fl Melodiers quartet. The declamation contest further proved the rich oratorical , if qualities of the class, and the debating team was quite successful. A moonlight hike - ir and doggie roast was enjoyed by the General class at the close of the year. The f juniors contributed to the success of The Pirates of P'enzeance. What is that we 2 1 began to hear? School is over! i i' rear of 19.26-37 1 Could it be true? Unbelievably, we were now dignihed Seniors, ready to shoulder many new responsibilities. Again we discovered two of our advisors, Miss 1 Kline, who had guided us for three years, and Miss Rems, among the missing. Our Hallowe'en dance, given for the juniors, proved that the bond between classes was commendable. Our sports were fairly successful. with a new coach and plenty of new material. The Senior class plays were declared the best ever given, especially ,P Lunatics At Large! g the band had its revivalg the glee clubs were organizedg the Senior monitors, under the direction of the captain, established a Traffic Court: 'Qjf' the students enjoyed quite a few school dances throughout the year, as the class f' was extremely musical, the operetta, Ruddigore only added greater laurels to their activitiesg and, a peppy varsity debating team climaxed a most eventful and memorable year. With our Hnal get-together at the Senior Ball, we wrote Huis to an unforgettable epoch in our lives. Geraldine L. K line. Page I5 3'i4f ?lf :'
