Reared on the heights of Ida,
Against the wide-arched sky,
The sunbeams fall athwart thee,
The moonbeams gently lie.
Across thine open hilltop
The winds blow bold and free.
O ye gray walls protecting,
We raise our song to thee.
Come let us sing together
A song of grateful praiseg
In honor of our founder
The joyous strain upraise.
'Twas she beheld the vision,
And wrought with steadfast will
'Tis we with joyous labor
That vision must fulfill.
" Semper Fidelis" singing,
To Emma Willard dear,
Above thy gray walls ringing,
Our song floats sweet and clear.
O touch each fleeting moment
With friendship's alchemy!
The days that lie before us
Our memories soon shall be.

There is no greater treasure meets our quest,
There is no greater pot of rainboW's gold
Than fearless knowledge, glowing at its best,
All that an eager mind can grasp and hold.
But there have been false gems to blind our eyes,
And there are devious paths that We may take,
The torch that only Hickers once and dies
Does not decry its brilliant light a fake.
There have been those whose friendly touch of hand
Has been a magnet true. You have not failed,
All through the years the tasks that you have planned
Have helped to charter seas as yet unsailed.
No finer memory than this is ours-
Your gracious guidance of these youthful hours.

Dear Emma 4VVillard, swift the days
Have brought the parting of our ways.
We go, nor soon shall We return,
But bright thy spirit torch will burn,
And shed its living rays.
CHORUS
O lovely light, as Vestal flame,
Kindled by one of noble name,
We hold thee high that thy clear light
May search the shadows of life's night
And shine a challenge to our aim.
Dear school whose spirit reaches high,
In wisdom spanning earth and sky,
Farewell, but rest within thee deep
The promise that thy faith will keep
Our hearts and eyes held high.

freshman Qtlass ann 1Buints Mpmarh
A train ride, a bit of striped colored silk pinned on our coats, Mr.
Dalton with his taxis, and We had arrived! How big everything seemed
and how little and lost we were! It was not long, however, until we
too strode along the corridors with brows wrinkled over "that terrible
algebra lesson," and until we too knew the delights of Sleepovers and
Oreos-yes, and We sigh as we remember, of Hersheys at the Tea House.
Our first Revels thrilled us and held us spellbound, although our youth
condemned us to the Dress Rehearsal. With what a superior delight
we took charge of our own tickets and our own selves on this first vaca-
tion. Then back we came to our places, better organized and inhnitely
more at home. We survived Mid-Year Examinations fthe capital letters
are quite intentionalj, and before we could realize that the year was
nearing its close we were plunged into the excitement of June Day Prac-
tice and the delight of Step Singing and evening walks beneath the lilacs.
Then came the tulip beds and the chair carrying, the thrill of Senior Play
and Class Day, and the beauty of pink and white which help to make up
an Emma Willard Commencement.
Didnlt it seem nice in the fall to come back and know everyone
and everything? But no, not quite everything-a stranger in our midst,
the "Perfect Shoe." Now, at last, our uniforms were complete. This
was the year when we welcomed the alumnae so warmly with the Play-
house Fire, oh terrible and exciting day! But although the playhouse
was gone, it was not long before Miss Kellas took us over to see our
beautiful new Assembly Hall. Now we too could go to the real Revels
and behold the Boar's Head, the blazing plum pudding, and the enthusi-
astic guests. We experienced those "growing pains" which trouble the
best of Sophomore Classes and then at last we were Juniors.
It was such a big jump that next September. A Junior is so infinitely
more important than a Sophomore. But not even the importance of
seats in the Upper Study hall nor of our authority in Sage Hall could
take away our enjoyment of certain of our former delights. Thanks-
giving Dinner was just as much a masterpiece, the troubadour was just
as entertaining, and our pound of candy was just as faithfully cherished

as ever before. But this was not alll There were the new and here-
tofore unknown pleasures of abundant free evenings, of Prom, and of
Junior-Senior Picnic. All these and more things reminded us that we
were NEXT YEAR'S SENIORS! Then came the thrill of joy when
the first meeting of the Incoming Seniors was called. How important
we felt as we chose our own Head of Student Government and our own
Council, as we sang to the Seniors at Senior Dinner and as we ordered
our Senior Rings. We were promoted to bed-making at Commencement,
and, pillow-laden, strode past the lowly tulip-diggers and lilac-cutters,
with noses turned up in scorn. And then Koh final stroke of happinesslj
we grew several inches with pride as we took our places on the steps
fI.ibrary Steps though they werej and became the Senior Class of 1932.
This year when we returned to the familiar home of 'fverbal forms,
pediformes, and uniforms with collars," the homecoming was just a little
different. Gone were the days of alarm clocks in the Study hall! Gone
were the nights of dark ramblings in search of feasting Seniors. In their
place was a sense of dignity and responsibility. Revels lost nothing by
repetition, but rather gained in beauty and in significance as we realized
that it was our last. As the painful beauty of "Cantique de Noel" drifted
down to us in the Library, we felt we could not, would not give it all
up, that it could not be gone forever. But who could remain sad or
thoughtful when COFFEE in the LIBRARY was awaiting? So joyous
laughter carried us past one more milestone in our school lives. Sweet
strains of music and pleasant partners whiled away several of our even-
ings, and Senior themes made days fly all too quickly. Our Senior Song,
our Hoops, our Senior Play practice-as each arrived we felt again
that thrill of importance. But now that the delight of Senior Dinner has
passed and our longed-for Commencement Day draws near, we begin
to wonder a little about the future and to feel the sorrow of parting.
We shall miss the close comradeship of our old friends: we shall miss this
lovely hill-top: and the teachers: and most of all, Miss Kellas, we shall
miss you who have worked for us so lovingly and have guided us so in-
spiringlyg and as we leave these gray walls, a part of the spirit which
you, by your example and your teaching have instilled in us, will go with
us and light for us the way.

oncl low-cut buck
Yes, we're wearing skirts this sum-
mer! But what this little jersey suit
gains in modesty, it does not lose
in speed. It fits divinely in or out of
water, for the skirt is cut on the bias
so that it clings to the Figure except
for a slight ripple at the hem. The
low-bank is deep enough to allow
you a good, even tan that will not in-
terfere with your evening necklines.

Character
' into Year Books
YOUR college year book will increase
in value as time goes by. Ten
. . . twenty years from now it will be one of
your most cherished possessions. As you
turn its pages you will live again your joyous
college days . . . see the faces of old friends
. . . favorite spots on the campus.
A college annual should be the finest expres-
sion of the printer's art. Annuals by Brandow
are that kind. For we feel obligated to live up
to the confidence expressed by thirty-one
leading schools and colleges for whom we
created year books last year.
The printing of college annuals is, with us,
more than the production of beautiful vol-
umes . . . it is a hobby-for we revel in the
true job of creative, artistic craftsmanship.
To withstand constant handling the covers
are as sturdy as artistic. The type is clear,
harmonious, balanced. A patented process
makes it possible for us to produce cuts which
retain all the pristine clearness of the original
photographs. So well do we serve our schools
that invariably the staffs have recommended
us to their successors.
It will be a pleasure to discuss with you the
details of your next annual.
