NOT PICTURED: Robert Iharra. Again this year the band performed for all school assemblies. They also played before one of our home games, and several of the bandsmen appeared in their football uniforms just before opening kickfoff. Thats real loyalty! The annual Christmas assembly featured the band, which also participated in the Milk Fund game, and performed at the PACE P-TA dinner. The most exciting event was the Winning of second place in our division at the University of Nevada's annual stage band festival in Reno in March. Ninety-five bands and fifteen combos were in this contest. Second prize was considered by the judges to be an outstanding achievement by Emery's fine musicians. The band played two other concerts in the Spring: at Holy Names Girls High School and at the Brisbane Grammar School. The musical year terminated with the 1969 graduation ceremonies, featured graduating seniors in instrumental numbers.
