Especially to the Seniors: The decade of the l96O's has seen you develop from young children to thoughtful young adults. While you were growing up, America, too, has been struggling toward self-understanding. You must now contribute your experience, maturity, and compassion to shape the tomorrows for us all. True democracy, freedom-the promise that is America-is not easily won. And once won, con- stant guardianship must be maintained of our pre- cious human rights. The effective leaders in tomor- row's world must increasingly be educated men and women who can understand the relationships between our past and our present and the chal- lenges of our futureg who can work individually and in cooperation with others in the best interests of all. We, your teachers, parents, and friends, hope your experiences at Emery will help you to take your place in the adult world. We hope you see the vital importance of a good education.
