Especially to the Seniors: The decade of the l96O's has seen you develop from young children to thoughtful young adults. While you were growing up, America, too, has been struggling toward self-understanding. You must now contribute your experience, maturity, and compassion to shape the tomorrows for us all. True democracy, freedom-the promise that is America-is not easily won. And once won, con- stant guardianship must be maintained of our pre- cious human rights. The effective leaders in tomor- row's world must increasingly be educated men and women who can understand the relationships between our past and our present and the chal- lenges of our futureg who can work individually and in cooperation with others in the best interests of all.
