SENIOR CLASS HISTORY
On September 1 1952 e1ghteen freshmen started H1gh School
On 1n1t1at1on day the freshmen came to school dressed 1n costumes
and 1n the evenlng the senlors gave a party ln the1r honor Lyle
Letcher Gary Olthoff and Geraldme Trlebwasser dropped out of
school dur1ng the flrst part of the year leavlng 15 freshmen Class
offlcers were elected as follows Denn1s Garry pres1dent Carol
Ruden v1ce pres1dent Jan1ce Osterloo secretary and treasurer
Eleanor Kayser student councll representat1ve Mrs Lehr was thelr
class advlsor Bob Volmer and Oryn Melnerts Went out for basket
ball and B111 Hanlon was manager of the team Carol Ruden was
chosen as one of the cheerleaders All the Freshmen took part 1n
M1XEd Chorus and the g1rls took part 1n G1rl s Glee Club and the
boys 1n Boy s Glee Club Barbara G1egl1ng played the trombone 1n
the Band Jan1ce Osterloo was 1n the G1rl s Octet and had a solo 1n
he operetta Dan1el Moeller Jomed the freshman class late 1n March
ra1s1ng th number to s1xteen
On August 31 1953 fourteen freshmen returned to Emery Hlgh
School and enrolled as Sophomores The class off1cers elected were
J an1ce Osterloo pres1dent B1ll Hanlon VICG pres1dent Eleanor
Kayser secretary and treasurer and Carol Ruden student counc1l
representatlve Bob Volmer and Oryn Memerts were out for basket
ball Most of the glrls took part 1n G1rls Glee Club and Jan1ce Oster
loo sang 1n the Sextet and M1xed Ensemble Jan1ce also went out
for vocal solo Work At the end of the year no one had dropped from
the class
then' Junlor year The class off1cers were B1ll Hanlon pres1dent
