Senior Members What was expected to be a rebuild- ing year with a new coach, turned out to be a pretty successful year. Al- though the Spartans started slow los- ing 4 out of their first 5 games. They finished strong winning their final 3 games of the season. The Spartans put it all together with a convincing 40-17 Homecoming vic- tory over South Sevier. They followed this victory with a 28-0 thrashing of Millard. The Spartans ended the regu- lar season with a dramatic 7-3 win over Juab at home. This win gave the Spar- tans a 4-3 region record and 4th place over all in Region ten out of nine teams. The 4th place finish enabled the Spartans to host a 1st round playoff game to the Manti Templars. The year was also highlighted by the building of a new football field and 75 players on the team. The J.V. had a very successful year finishing with 6 wins and 2 losses. 1- Davin Stilson runs with the ball during the Richfield game. 2- Coach Jones watches on while the team works hard at summer practice. 19

The girls were looking forward to the Vol- leyball Season. We had a competitive streak within us that made us more determined than ever to take state. However, as we fell 0-2 behind Mantis perfectly timed hits and dinks. We just didn’t pull it together. We found ourselves on a streak after that and won all of the remaining games except two seasons with a 12-4 record. We split with Gunnison and with Richfield. We went to the region tournament with a 3rd place seat and high expectations. We did exceptionally well in Pool play and en- tered the tournament the following day also in third. The rest is history. We lost to Manti, which put us in the losers bracket, then gained a win over San Juan. We then played South Sevier for a chance to go to State. We lost in 3 games and for the Lady Spartans, the season had ended.
