APPRECIATION is one of the most difficult feelings to express. With this
realization, we, the Class of June, 1948, dedicate our yearbook to the
people whom we feel deserve the ultimate in appreciation, our parents.
Through the years you have served as our guideposts and have started us on
the way to adult citizenship. ln deep sincerity we offer our book as a token of
our gratitude and appreciation.
Ma. HMM! G. Paakm
Superintendent of Schools
WE ARE deeply grateful to you for your
interest, understanding, supervision, and

COACH SAM MONACO
Q. A - - - ' A
6?
ASST. COACH BEN BARBER
76
GN COMPLETION of Emerson's great gridiron season, we, the seniors,
wish to congratulate Coach Sam Monaco and assistant Coach Ben
Barber on the splendid job they did. We shall always remember this team
because it was the greatest in our four years at Emerson.
The opening game was with Bayonne in which the Bulldogs smeared
the former by a score of 46-l2. Then came the only setback of the sea-
son at the hands of the Petreans, l3-O. The Blue and White snapped
out of that quickly and defeated team after team to enter the Hudson
County Championship fame against the same Petrean team which de-
feated them earlier in the season, The Bulldogs showed what they had
and took the crown by a 26-6 margin.
The game that was most important and which won Emerson so much
recognition was the game with Memorial when Emerson snapped their
great winning streak by a decisive score of 25-l8. ln this game were the
outstanding line plays of all the seniors, John lWhiteyl Koslowski, Dick
Motta, Carmine Tarantino, Captain Val DeNoia, and "Chuckin" Chuck
Nardone and Bruno Bartelloni.
On Thanksgiving Day the Bulldogs defeated their greatest rival,
Union Hill, by a score of 32-l4 in a hotly contested affair. The season
ended with a record of nine wins and one loss.

RAY CAPONE, Manager
TOMMY EC KERT, Coach
IN ONE of the most successful seasons in the
history of Emerson Basketball, this year's
Bulldog squad concluded the regular season
with a record of eighteen wins and only one
defeat. The amazing total record compiled by
this Year's cagers is twenty-six wins and two
setbacks.
The team led by the high scoring Ray Berna-
dini romped, gaining win over win until an I8
game winning streak was finally snapped by
Kearny High by the score of 37 to 36. When
Ray's eligibility ran out late in January, John
Kuharetz filled the center slot brilliantly. The
Emerson five captured the H. C. l. A. A. crown
. and fought valiantly to earn more admiration
for its school in the State Group lV Tourna-
ment only to be beaten in the semi-finals by
Orange High School.
Then to make more history the Blue and
White quintet was again extended an invitation
to compete in the Glens Falls Eastern States
Tournament.
The courtsters became the second in Glens
Falls history to be invited three consecutive
years. When the Emersonians annexed the
Glens Falls Title, they became the first team
in the history of the tournament to capture the
crown in alternate years.
Along with those already mentioned, Coach
Tommy Eckert will sorely miss the services of
Chuck Nardone, Tommy Aloi, and Ronny
Zuersher. Coach Eckert will have to build his
squad around his three lone veterans, Captain
Matty Florio, Harry Brooks and Bob Hager.

COACH MANFREDI
82
WITH Ramasco, Scholz, Boser, Sticco, Brooks and Ruggieri forming the
nucleus of an improved ball-club, Coach Manfredi hopes to come out on
top in the county standings.
With many eligible men to choose from Mr, Manfredi sent the following
men on the field for the first game of the season: first base, Ray Gramkow,
second base, George Leonard, shortstop, Paul Ramasco, third base, Eddie
Scholz, left field, Eddie Boser, center field, Mike Ruggieri, right field, Joe
Sticco, catcher, Harry Brooks, and pitcher, John Kuharetz.
In the opening game, we lost a heartbreaker to a strong N. Y. U, fresh-
man team-2 to l. We came back strong to hand the Weehawken Indians
their first defeat to the tune of 6 to l. ln the two following games with St.
Michael's we lost the first and crushed them in the second-l4 to 2. lt is
noted that in every game John Kuharetz was Emerson's pitcher. ln the county
record we have a record of two wins and one loss.
