As the curtain rises. Felix Ducotel. iMike Keatingl sits at a table in the French Guinea store he tends. poring over the disasterous account books. When the bell rings and his wife Emilie tMaureen Maloneyl enters. fearing a sneak theif's entrance. both are unhappily Surprised by the woman who does come waddling in. Mme. Pa- role iShelley Fragemanl is a conniving customer who buys everything on a never ending credit. and can talk poor Feix out of any merchandise. After her departure. Emilie, makes reference to the three convicts working on their roof. Soon their daughter, Marie Louise. iKelly Dartl. enters announcing that Henri, the owner of the shop and Fe- lix's cousin, is in quarantine. Felix unhappily goes to get Henri and Paul out of quarantine. leaving Emilie to rush to the kitchen and Marie Louise to open a letter from a school- mate. INStill life .le ,1' l The show really begins to roll after Marie Louise faints and three men in prison uniforms creep quietly down the ladder from the roof. The laughs start the minute Joseph Ueff Kellyt reaches over to pick up the note. and continue through the whole play as he. Jules Uay Smidtl. Alfred Ueff PinnelD and their pet snake Adolf move into the Ducotel's lives as well as the hearts of the audience. As the convicts try to better the carefully structured existence of the Ducotels. a hilarious string of events occurs while everyone learns the sto- ries behind the convicts' imprison- ment. AlthOugh Felix decides not to get Paul tDanny Worn and Henri out of quarantine, Henri. played convincingly evil by sophomore Phil Timberlake. manages to get them off the ship him- self. When they storm angrily into the house in the middle of the night. the convicts decide it's time to do some- thing about the threats of Henri. After a heated argument with Paul, they find that he will eventually break Marie Louise's heart as well as turn them in to the authorities. They realize that although they have to get rid of Paul. too. it is unfortunately impossi- ble. When Paul comes Out of his Uncle's room yelling for a doctor because he'd just been bitten by a snake, the con- victs are estatic. realizing that per- haps good does triumph over evil! With the death of Paul. the convicts' only wish is that fate would send someone along to take his place in Ma- rie Louise's heart. As in all fairytales. fate answers their prayer by sending a handsome yOung man tMark Keatingl to her doorstep. Mr. Holdcraft once again has tri- umphed in presenting a hilarious play that marked a definite place in the hearts of all who saw My Three An- gels.
