‘Pre eat ... Throughout the 1983-84 school year, there have been a number of events that have taken place. A few of these events have involved someone or some place close to us. Other events have influenced people world wide. There have been some changes in our quiet community. We lost a school mate and friend, Charles Webb. We will miss him dearly. Cable Television was distributed throughout Elsberry, and the school has it’s own channel, LCR2 Channel 18. Along with cable, EHS equipped a computer room, consisting of five computers. Time magazine voted the computer as the “man” of the year. The track team met their goals by attaining Conference- and District Champs. Also, there were activities being performed in other parts of the world. Two satellites were lost in space, and Sally Ride was the first woman astronaut. The Super-Bowl was won by the Los Angeles Raiders. In London, the Lebanonese took over the embassy. Pcwt cuut Closer to home, the new and most popular video and song was Thriller.” The song that hit the pop charts was “Against All Odds.” Also, America’s sweethearts, Joanie and Chachi got married. 4
