BASEBALL ROSTER OP ELSBERRY HIGH SCHOOL The starting nine of the year were as follows: Livesay 2B Waggoner IB Colbert C Miller SS Meyer CF Schaper 3B Riffle RF Briscoe LF Stonebraker P Substitutes C. Pratt Long Johnson Vaughn Lagemann Frith The first game of 1949 proved an easy win for Elsberry with the score Elsberry 11, Hermann 5, The second game was an easy win also, with the score reading Elsberry 14, Bowling Green 12. The third game proved a disappointment to Elsberry, when they lost to Warrenton 5—3, Spirits soared back, however, in the fourth game when Elsberry defeated Montgomery City 18—3, The fifth and final game, with Troy, was glori- ously won by Elsberry with the score reading 10-6, The winning pitcher for the four wins was Perry Stone- braker. The loss was credited to Waggoner, As a result of the tie between Troy, who won 4 games, and Elsberry, the trophy will be held by each school for one-half year. Each school is credited with a championship in baseball for »49. 22

Outstanding in their performances were Pearl Holcomb and Mary Mills as two naughty little girls who be- haved not so good and liked to torment Nellie Reed and Beverly Trescott as well as their older brother Wilbur Miller. The play was especially good because of the perfect casting and good Jobs done by all the seventeen students. The Glee Club sang between acts and wore their colorful formals. The director, Mrs. Rosemary Brown was presented a corsage. 24
