Class History In the fall of 1970, sixty-eight energetic Freshmen entered the unfamiliar halls of ECHS, Being our first year as stu- ) dents of ECHS, we elected our Freshman class officers, They were President Mitchell, Vice-President Coulter, Secretary . McKown, and Treasurer Hammond, Our first big event was initiation, But we got it so much easier than those Seniors themselves did when they were Freshmen, We had no mud or icky stuff, because it was in the gym, Thank God for the rain, That night a dance was put on in our favor by the Seniors, Everyone came with garlic salt or butch wax in their hair, but it was a memorable experience because it was our first high school dance, Then Homecoming came rolling around with the parade, game and dance, We, as Freshmen, hada great time building our float, asking someone to the dance, and go- ing to the game, even though we received third place on the float, We took the money and also first place on our stunt, In our Sophomore year, in the fall of 1971, our class had grown to seventy-two lazy Sophomores, Our Homecoming ) float took fourth place, but for the second time we took first place on our stunt, We were recognized for nothing except a | car wash for Prom, It was a success, and we made billions of dollars, We were glad to be Juniors, but we started out on the wrong foot, We became known as the Radical Class of 74, It was during this time that our own Carl Sandburg, Tom Koll, wrote his now -famous work of art, Junior Shaft. We re- ceived fourth place on our float, again, and we received third place on our stunt, Our Junior Class play, Up the Down Staircase , was a huge success and was so much a part of a great year, Then came the responsibility and fun of preparing a prom for the 1973 Senior Class, An Old-Fashioned Love Song” was one of the most beautiful proms ever presented to Elmwood, Now having gone through three long years, we are now what we've been looking forward to being--Seniors, As Se- niors, our Homecoming was extra special because we put it on, Not to destroy everyone's opinions of our fantastic floats, we again received fourth place, but as usual we took first place on our stunt, We are now looking forward to the comple- tion of our yearbook, the Senior class play, and the Prom, But most of all, we look forward to graduation on May 31, 1974, We will be finally leaving ECHS with as much and more enthusiasm as we did when we came in,
