TINAZ CAN This year Elmwood Community High School participated for the first time in the Ameri- can Field Service program. It has been a rewarding and happy experience. Success has been achieved greatly through the warmth and personality of Tinaz Can, our student from Turkey. Tinaz came here from Ankara, Turkey, where she had been a student at the Ankara Girls' Lyceum, She was very. active there and played on the school's handball and volleyball teams. Tinaz was also a member of the school's literature club. Tinaz is now enrolled as a senior at Elmwood Community High School, but she is taking two junior subjects which are concerned with the United States: American history and Ameri- can literature. As a senior Tinaz was voted Homecoming Queen this fall. She is a member of the Ulmus Staff and G.A.A. Under the terms of the organization which sent her here, Tinaz will return to Turkey af- ter graduation. She plans to enter the Technical University of the Middle East in Ankara next fall. HOMECOMING i, in cementite need —$— — — —Tgjgy, FHE 1960 HOMECOMING The homecoming festivities of nineteen hundred and sixty were held on October 20 and October 21. The seniors sponsored a chili supper Thursday evening after which the classes and organizations presented stunts. The Sophomore Class placed first, the Pep Club ' second, the Senior Class ' third, and the G.A. A. received honorable mention. Friday afternoon a parade of car and float entries traveled through the down town area and returned to the football field of the high school. Here a short pep rally, was held. The Elmwood Trojans were defeated by the Princeville Princes in the homecoming game Friday evening. The " Tempos " provided the music for the dance which followed the game. The winning floats were: The Senior Class place first; The Junior Class' second; The F.H.A. third; and the Sophomore Class re- ceived honorable mention. The final event that night was the crowning of the homecoming king and ° queen. Louise Philbee and Gerald Hauk, Leslie Ramshaw and Bob Murphy, and Sherry Clark and Dale Runyon preceded the royal couple, Tinaz Gan and Gary Inskeep. The week's festivities are now the lasting memory of the nineteen hundred and sixty homecoming at Elmwood Community High School. F JUNIOR PLAY The junior class of E.C.H.S. presented the rollicking three-act comedy, " That's Our Boy " , on November 18, 1960. The entire action of the play revol- ved around Walter Greer, who seemed to be continually in trouble, He black- ened his sister's eyes, caused his father's biggest real estate deal in years to fall through, and got arrested in the process. The play was certainly well done. Congratulations to the cast members and to Mrs. Monroe. CAST janer Gwyn Marian Lynn Alice Hildegard Miss Adams Walter . Bob . Frank Geci . Sharon Lewellyn .
