The GUS Club, sponsored by Mr. Iohn Arnold, takes various field trips to
public institutions each year for the beneht of gaining a better understanding of
our government and social problems. This year the club consists of one hundred
and thirty students. Mr. Arnold, at the end of the second semester, presents keys
to the following students: one key to each student excelling in government, U. S.
history, sociology and to the student who has made the most improvement during
the year. A key is also presented to one student for outstanding leadership in social
studies: this student is also honored by having his name engraved on a beautiful
trophy, along with the names of those who have excelled in past years.

individuals may enter projects in the science fairs. The main activity of the club
is its field trips when the members tour local factories. The Phi-Chem Club also
operatrs the coke machines in the cafeteria and sells coke at the basketball games.

The Girls' Athletic Association, under the leadership of Miss Violet Wolfe, has
been setting a lively pace this year.
Each Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday afternoon, these girls could be found
participating in such sports as softball, volleyball, and basketball.
Unorganized sports such as bowling, swimming, hiking, ice skating and roller'
skating keep these girls busy outside of school.
A total of 250 points earns a letter. A letter may be earned by participating in
unorganized and organized sports. Plaques are also awarded after a total of 550 points
have been compiled. It takes approximately two and a half years to earn a letter.

"Ouchl Oh!" "Scream louder!" "Oh, come on, you're supposed to be in love
with the girl!" These are just a few of the exclamations frequently heard drifting
from the Dramatics Class. The Dramatics Class was originated to help students
gain appreciation of drama and to offer them a specific phase of speech training.
Mr. Kent Kurtz, sponsor of the class, helps the students participate in such
activities as pantomimes, skits, impersonations, declamations and plays. Another
activity of the class this year has been the construction of scenery for the new stage.
This year the productions of the Dramatics Class included the traditional Christ-
mas program, a one-act play for the student body titled "Paul Wrecks the Family
Car," and a three-act play presented for the public on April 13.

We lost to South Side in the Sectional Tourney. The Varsity lost
to C.C. the first game played in our new gym on November 17. Our
Booster Club shirts have to be drycleaned-boo hoo! Stauffer was
hospitalized after the Lafayette Central game. The assemblies have
been few and far between. No sock hops! Our new parking lot was

The Booster Club had many changes this year. Its new reversible red and white
pep shirts added a lot to the tournaments. The club's sponsor is Mr. Elden Stoops.
For the Hrst time in its history, the Booster Club opened its membership to freshmen
as well as the usual sophomores, juniors and seniors. On the whole, our Booster Club
helped start the true Trojan spirit in the new gym at all our home games. Due to
the new developments, Booster Club is sure to become bigger and better.

in the first game of the season and to Monroeville in the final game of the Allen
County Baseball Championship. The batting crown this year went to Bill Stauffer,
who held a .-144 average. Other top individual batting averages were: Richard Gar-

photograph have received their distinguished medals, the highest honor in the
National Rifle Association.
The team has won -l and lost 1 in regular matches. Culver has inflicted our
only loss. In the State Match, the rifie team placed fourth, the prone team placed
third. Our standing team placed first in the state. As individuals, Sheddick placed

e D 1 reserve team wound up with an impressive record of ten wins against
six defeats. The Reserves looked particularly good when they defeated North Side
and Central Catholic. Central's Reserves squeezed by the Trojans by only one point
The leading point makers for the Reserves were all balanced scorersg and although
they lacked height. they made up for it in true hghting spirit, which marked many
a successful rally. The team is mostly freshmen and sophomores. This fact makes
the future hright for Elmhurst having a county crown soon.

Although the Men of Troy won only six games all season, they came back strong
near the end and lost the last two by only one point. When the Sectional came up,
the roster held six seniors, five sophomores and a freshman. For the hrst time in
twenty-Five years, the Troians went to the Hnal game of the Sectionals. Half of this
great tourney team will be back next year and should give their opponents some
rough going.
