Under the balcony was an old-fashioned garden. The side walls were covered with painted panels and drapery. Above was a starry blue ceilina. Qh, boy! Refreshments! Qh, sure, they had somethinq sweet and coolina at intermission. The refreshment committee decided that ice cream, cookies and punch would really hit the spot. Gee! Harman, Miss Polls om schwr man an. whim' With the click of the camera and a Look pretty, please, the production of the Annie be- gan. The 1942 class, under the direction of Miss Falls, vowed the well-worn phrase, This will be the best one yet. The stal'f was headed by B. Tarr with B. Montgomery as rewrite editor. The picture men, B. Harman, D. Deuter, E. Pontius, and V. Stoller began early in October to take snaps for the book. That did not finish their job, however, panels had to be measured and pictures placed just right. A lot of figuring was required, but they did it. The subscription campaign started October 6 and ended November 7. The seniors set their goal at 200 but succeeded in selling 220. A. W'ise and R. Harman sold l8 books each. School days was chosen as the theme for the book, and then the work really began, Many nights saw the staff working in Boom 5, taking time out only to satisfy the ravenous ap- petites developed from an afternoon and evening of school routine and Anlibrum work. M. Cox, B. Miller, B. Mutton and B. Smelser, the senior class editors, listened in on conversa- tions to get the favorite phrases used by their classmates. The girls worked joyously and vig- orously in Writing up, to perfection, this section for the 72 graduates. A. Wise typed the enrollment list used for checking of spelling. The underclass write-ups were written by V. MacGregor. Activities were covered by B. Mill- house, B. Felmlee, B. Perl, and E. Pontius. G. A. A. and boys' sports were submitted by M. Pond, G. A. A. editorg and by the sports editors, P .Oyer and L. Henry. B. Mason, class treasurer, was the bookkeeper for this year. L. Meyer acted as advertising manager, with B. Parkison, B. McQueen, D. Fisher, B. Harman, D. Schmidt and H. Shaefer soliciting the city for ads. The boys' goal was Sl00q they turned in 55140. Short Work was made of tedious preparation of the dummy by the typists: D. Loveless, L. Kraft, B .Mason and P. McCoy. Poems and general aid and mirth were rendered by that old handy man, William Shaker speare Perl. Those linoleum block division pages, the school days borders and the kid drawings on the senior pages were done by L. Hegerfeld. Since the Anlibrum does not have an office of its own, the journalism class room, the teach- ers' rest room, room 5, the stage, the outer office and the Advance room became the laboraf tory for clicking, cutting and pasting, typing and copyreading, checking and mailing and for the chattering that adds zest to journalism.
