In the evening session the Elmhurst negatives suffered the only defeat of the season at the hands of the North Side ailirma- tive team. In the next debate the local ailirniatives avenged their earlier defeat by winning the decision from the North Side negatives. This gave Elmhurst second place in the contest with two debates won and two lost. Since most of the debaters are underclassmen, an even better record is expected for the 1931-35 season. During the week of May 7-11 a varsity team consisting of Bob Arnold, Oletha Gritlith and Mary Elizabeth VV6lSl1llll61' competed in the National Speech Tournament in Topeka, Kansas.
