Some of these include preservation of divisional spaces, performance of preventative maintenance on everything from refuelling at sea stations to the compo- nents of MK1 flight deck vests, riggingfconducting un- reps and conreps and standing tedious underway watches. l'To lead, you must first be able to follow for without followers, there can be no leaders. A Seaman, under the supervision of Boatswains Mates, are assigned to perfonn jobs such as keeping up deck machinery, extemal structures, lines and rigging standing deck watches: such as Helm, Lee Helm, Logk, out, Messenger, Standing Sentry, Fire, Security and Anchor Watch, manning and operating small bgats winches, davits, guns, and Damage Control Parties, Without these skilled personnel, the power of the Navy would be weakened. WEAPONS DEP RT IVIENT Weapons Department is made up of three divisions: First Division or l'Deck is comprised of Boatswain Mates and they are responsible for maintenance and preservation of top- side spaces, ships boats, manning the helm and standing lookout watches underway. Second Division is made up of Gunners Mates and Fire Control Tech- nicians. They are responsible for Na- val Gunfire Support, small arms and ships defense using the radar con- trolled 2Omm galling gun and the 50154 caliber gun mount. LT DINKLER WEAPONS OFFICER AS Division's primary role is find- ing, identifying and destroying enemy subs. The CxMT's maintain and operate the ASROC launcher, the ST's main- tain and operate all sonar equipment and the TlVI's are in charge of all torpe- does and torpedo launching tubes.
