EAPO DEPARTM Weapons Department is made up of three divisions. First Division or Deck Division is comprised of Boatswain Mates and they are responsible for main- tenance and preservation of top- side spaces, ship's boats, manning the helm and standing lookout Watches underway. Second Division is made up of Gunners Mates and Fire Con- trol Technicians. They are re- sponsible for naval gunfire sup- port, small arms and ship's de- fense using the radar controlled 20mm gatling gun and the 5 f54 caliber gun mount. E LT Harrelson Weapons Officer AS Division's primary role is finding, identifying and des- troying enemy submarines. The GMT's maintain and operate the ASROC launcher, the ST's maintain and operate all sonar equipment and the TM's are in charge of all torpedoes and tor- pedo launching tubes.
