sAsEBo, JAPAN ELLIOT visited Sasebo, Japan, an ancient port city on the island of Kyushu, toward the end of PACEX-89. For many EL- LIOT sailors, Sasebo was their first port call in a foreign land. It is where one would go to check on their service record, obtain leave chits, find a Navy or ELLIOT in- struction, use the phone to call off-ship, sub- mit paperwork for typing, drop off muster re- ports in the morning, utilize the Xerox copier, pick-up TAD orders, etc. The ship's office also produces the Plan of the Day Ca job that often takes the Yeomen into the wee hours of the nightb.
