STURDEVANT Principal To Students, Faculty, and Friends: May I take this opportunity to wish each of you happiness, success, peace of mind, and the ability to choose wisely the path of life that lies ahead. It is with great hope and pride that I say farewell to the class of 1961 and look to the future graduating classes, in anticipation that the knowledge gained and friendships made will be the foundation for a better community, state, nation, and world. With God's guidance these hopes will become reality. ku. F. ADMINISTRATION LENZY C. There to help direct them up the ladder of education were their first grade teachers, Mrs. Leota McNeely and Mrs, Opha Kinser. As a reward for learning their fzbrfr, the class were given a trip to Bloomington where they went to the library and the fire station and then took a train ride home on the Monon. Then under the supervision of Mrs. Eudora Mason and Mrs. Kinser in the second grade, they learned the art of using a pencil. Also that year they took a trip to Kister's Air Field where the class took flight. Mrs. Beatrice Tapp and Mr. Charles Carey taught the third "R'learithmetic. As fourth graders, taught by Mrs. Emily Stahl, they began a study of the English language. Miss Lillian Lockridge and Mrs. Marjorie Carter taught them geography in the fifth grade, and Mrs. Carter and Mr. Russell Forsyth prepared the future high schoolers for applying their previous knowledge to their next six years. During the fifth and sixth grades, they sold garden seeds to finance a trip to Spring Mill State Park. Mr. Warren Miller herded the high-headed seventh graders through class meetings, class elections, and parties. Mrs. Viola Ramsey was the sponsor in the eighth gradeg and while studying Indiana history that year, the class took a trip to Vincennes. Mr. Dennis Grafe guided the freshmen through their first year of real high school with the traditional banquet which had a Shangri La theme. Mr. Robert Huffman has guided the class ever since with the help of Mr. Ward Braf- ford during the senior year. During the four high school years the Seniors have joined different organizations and clubs and have participated in sports and other activities. Class rings, a class play, "Her Kissin' Cousin," the prom with the "Stairway to Heaven" theme, the concession stand, the LLAMARADA, and studies have kept the Seniors very busy during their high school days.
