T was a dreary day OLllS1dS It was ra1n1n a weary dr zzlmg
N ram makln one desperately lonely l souvht rellef by
A? turning my m nd to the br wht spots ln the past l hunted
L, up my scrap books and commg upon the one for Z7
settled down to fcrffet the dreary day
Flrst ln my book were the left overs from the Campa On
Ball the knlck knacks furmshed by the dlffcrent polltlcal partnes How
well l remembered that nwht the Galetv and determrned manner ot
each oarty as they stroxe to UIVC the lmpresslon that thelr party W
know whether lt was thelr speeches or the wav they danced but the
lndepenclerft partv won l laughed as l trlcd on my ammal hat
a favor from the Se-mor Party the first real party of the year Com
n as the party dd between Halloween and Thanksfflvlnv t e
decoratlons were a comblnatlon of both a large orange enclosure for
the orchestra and a celllng composed of streamers of red oranve and
brown whlch made the gym cozy and ix jolly place for fun The
Oalety of the evenlng was alded by clever ammal hats turkey and
pumpkln programs and gay balloons
l closed my eyes for a moment and l could see the gym on the
night of lVlarch IZ The unlors St Patrlcks Party Oh what
nolsy party wlth whlstles and Cfay knlck knacks lVly ears stlll tlngle
from the vlbratlons of them all The gym was artlstlcally decoratec
wlth the Green and whlte of St Patrlcks Day The orchestra on
the stave was composed entlrely of m mbers of the unlor Class l
remembered how we loathed to turn homeward but dld so at last
onlv appeaslnfr ourselves by the thouffht of the sophomore party
The sophomore and freshmen partles held no memornes for
me as l was prevented from attendlnv both But those who attend
ed xentured a very enjoyable tlme and a much brlvhter estxmatlon
of the lower classes
At my feet lay programs and knlck knacks whlle III my
heart a des re that the quotatlon Backward turn backward oh Tlme
ln thy Hwht would come true and l could llve once more that happy
