CLASS PROPHESY The 40th reunion of one of the most outstanding classes of Elkins High School--that of I960-- made headlines this week. Every member has become a celebrity in his own field. Here in the words of noted news analyst, Norman Doege - -himself a member--is the step by step account. The first to arrive is our old friend and sponsor, Gene Hogan, who is the same horse racing Gene Hogan, winner of the Kentucky Derby. Entering behind him is the famous dance team, Tom Dalton and Betty Roudabush, first to introduce the famous Congo Shake in this Country. A circle of people gather around as Betty and Tom do a few movements of their dance--such lightness! Someone in the circle remarks, Cool man cool? I turn and, yes, it is Danny Cooksey the renowned scientist. Danny's latest research is being done on the incubation of grasshopper eggs. A commotion at the door catches my attention and in walks the beautiful actress Martha Young, who has taken over the Bardot fans. Escorting her is equally famed actor and singer, Leroy Lackey. Leroy has many records to his name. His latest hit is Leroy, Leroy Lend Me Your Comb. We go into the banquet hall which has been redone since the 1996 Democratic Presidential Convention was held here. Bruce Clark, owner, persuaded the well-known artist, Marilyn Miner, to redo the famous Elks Hall. There is Norma Jones, the noted model, in her famous funnel dress that gives you that poured in look. To her right sits the noted love crooner, Richard Nickell, who later on the program sings a romantic song about true love never dying. Close by sits gracious Donna Johnson 1999's mother of the year. On the menu I found zebra meat, goose eggs and elephant ears, especially furnished by the hard-riding ranchers Leon Slaughter and Zell Goolsby. The wines I notice are from the well - known James Mason Winery. A cheer arises and I look and in the door stands Elkins' Chief of Police, Doug Williford to greet his classmates. Just then class president, Harold Pitts raps for attention. Harold made the All-American basketball team from the University of Arkansas in 1970. The program includes a talk by Major Buddy Ledford on our future in space--what space looks like and confirms the fact that the moon is made of blue cheese. Two writers are in the midst--Dian Hopper who autographed her newest western, Dian Rides Again, and Carol Smith Walker, famed children's writer who tells how she came to write her best seller--Three Little Pigs. Bill Thomas gives a personal account of his latest big game hunt in the Yukon. Entering late is the tycoon James Kilgore, still quoting figures to his smart, shapely sec- retary, Louise Danner. Still another latecomer is Billy Stout, better known as Lover Boy Billy. The closing event which climaxes the evening is singing by the group of Auld Lang Syne and all agreed to meet the next year.

DONNA JOHNSON They say love makes the world go round. Catch me--I'm dizzy! DANNY COOKSEY He who sittith upon a tack, yea! He shall rise. MARILYN MINER She shifted her brain into neutral and let her tongue rattle on. ZELL GOOLSBY, JR. All things come to those who wait. Who's hurrying? BILL THOMAS This is my beloved self, in whom I am well pleased.
