Here I am, one and myself Empty and lonely with so many people near me I ' m so dependent on the world for my existence People to need and care for me When I crave for it most I ' m so weak when I have no one to lean on Now and then a time of inner searching That satisfies my soul I need that helping hand To lift me out of the darkness of my mind. 4 :-w • .» s . B» W U O p L » 8 ■ D I watched you arrive, here, on campus. The class of 1975 kind of innocent and maybe a little scared. You made new friends quickly; who will become old friends quickly, as you continue to make new friends. Friends. Some academics. A prof who calls you by your first name, even in the BSC. 1 watched you arrive. You came. You see. You have yet to conquer. May Day 1971 When I look back on May Day it is hard to remember. Warm rain so typical of E-Town moved the activities of the day to the shelter of the gym. Outside remained the tents of those protesting the war in Vietnam. Yet, inside the photographers were busy capturing the smiles of the court and the queen. The irony of it all! mH ■ «■ 8 fej ii. !£ Front: Tricia Wright. Back: Sherry Bubb. Melissa Chance. Homecoming — Smiling faces Old acquaintances Trying to remember those fond recollections Of years gone by. Homecoming — Yelling cheers Soccer players Scoring goals against Textile With determined minds to win, But still uncertain. Homecoming — We won! Balloons float to the sky People shout Spirits exalt with pride The queen ' s gentle smile Saying the team ' s alright. Love whispers in the streets A hello to warm the cool afternoon Leaves falling now and then Floating brown and beautiful Brittle to the touch Swirling with the breezes. I remember the day You gave me a simple brown October leaf That I pressed between the pages of my mind And the marigold Freshened by the morning dew Can you recall how the sun reflected Over the gentle ripples of water As we gazed into the lake Thinking of our love found only as a beginning That will warm our winter to come. • » : v .» 8k i-. In all my years I have never been anywhere that has as much and as constant rain. Rain, rain go away; come again during the spring monsoon. Sometimes the rain is warm and I get as wet and feel as re- freshed as nature must. But, good rain or not so good, why are there so many earth- worms and why must they die on my sidewalks? 25 Mr , 1 , ' i J ■ wwi L in 9! ■ I ua • . i f ■ -:V My thoughts wander back to the still vivid memories Of peaceful walks at twilight When sun painted the sky with brilliant reds and golds As we talked of life and our new found love. I hope that your class will join with the alumni of the past years in their on-going and increas- ing interest and support of our College. As one of the prime constituencies of Elizabethtown College we must par- ticipate with our time and ideas if we believe in private education. As alumni, we are proud of the increasing recognition by business, profes- sions and the public of Elizabethtown College and its graduates. We must continue our involvement to add to this deserved recognition. All alumni join me in congratulating you on your success to date and wish- ing youjcontinued success in the future.
