Here the basic foundations for suc- cess in the business world were laid. Sixty words a minute! I'll never be able to make it!', we exclaimed and complained as we were beginning shorthand and typing. But practice finally made perfect and speedy our writing, as well as our transcribing. In bookkeeping, we learned the value of the lonely pennyg in math, we wrestled with discounts and markupsg and in operating business machines, we acknowledged that patience was a needed virtue. Through a trial school-work arrangement quite a few members of this de- partment have been given permanent employment by the close of school. At first, studying ancient wars, colonial treaties, and the depression years' economic failures seemed a waste of time. However, the pattern slowly formed to act as a guide for a more complete understanding of our present difficulties. It was in our senior year's problems of democracy course that we were able to very realistically correlate all that we had learned in previous years using it to teach us better citizenship and the art of getting along in our modern world. -w-iv, NAOMI R. No other class at E-town High afforded so many narrow escapes with so much fun and seriousness at the same time. For all its trying moments, we benefited greatly from this expert training before we took our actual tests to get our licenses. It gave us confidence, poise and an understanding of the car's PAUL W.
