We were exposed to complicated mazes of geometry, algebra and trigonometry with the physics course stressing a blend of math and science. Taking math was more than just learning to work problems mechanically. Algebra was helpful in chemistry where formula writing was prominent. Trigo- nometry was a must for physics. Knowing how to use a slide rule was indispen- sable for working the long, complicated problems in either advanced chemistry or physics. Now we know for a fact-l'Math teaches you to thinkf, STANLEY S. In Biology we learned the an- swers to these and many more questions concerning ourselves, our place among living things, and how we are related to our environment. We examined plant and animal specimens as well as studied them in our attractive, well-written science books. Chemistry instruction followed a varied path leading us to appreciate that almost every common material we use today has been developed or improved by the chemist. At first, studying ancient wars, colonial treaties, and the depression years' economic failures seemed a waste of time. However, the pattern slowly formed to act as a guide for a more complete understanding of our present difficulties. It was in our senior year's problems of democracy course that we were able to very realistically correlate all that we had learned in previous years using it to teach us better citizenship and the art of getting along in our modern world. -w-iv, NAOMI R.
