lla, AXSS HHS THR Y He who heeds 1nstruct1on IQ on the path to lrfe these words recorded ln the Holy Brble pertaln deeply to the graduatrng class of 1960 It seems l1ke only yesterday that a group of wrde eyed youngsters apprehensrvely took therr place rn the elementary 1nst1tut1on of learnrng Trme alone would see these chlldren become the well rounded youth of the present Each successrye year 1n grade school brought wrth rt new challenges to be met Through the patrent gurdance of therr teachers the group found that three and three equal srx that Jane could run and that Columbus drscovered Amerlca But much of the know ledge whrch they acqulred could not be found rn books New frrends were drscovered partres of all sorts brought them together and lrttle grrls began to blush when lrttle boys looked at them They began to develop an awareness of others and a deep sense of consrderatron for therr frrends and adults wrth whom they came rn contact Frnally rt was trme to leave chrldhood days behmd and enter upon yet another branch of the tree of educatron Eagerly the group embarked upon therr frrst vear of Junror hrgh school Seekrng to adapt themselves to therr new surround rngs they began to Jorn the socral and athletrc organrzatrons whrch were an rmportant part of the school system Band orchestra and choral practlces found farthful members of the class of 60 rn attendance Athletrc teams were bolstered by the addrtron of these eager new sportsmen and Trr H1 Y s and H1 Y s rncluded them on therr commrttees and rn therr offrces Therr scholastrc lrfe changed as drastrcally as drd then' socral lrves Mathematrcs geography and socral studres were no longer unknown words rather they became a part of the rndrvrdual students E1 th grade and mnth grade passed swrftly and soon the class was a part of the senror hrgh school Thexr sophomore year found them choosrng the1r own class offrcers and selectrng strrkrng class Jackets of royal blue and whrte Twrlrght Trme was the romantrc theme of therr frrst prom whrch was attended by sparklrng glrls rn therr new formal gowns and handsome young men 1n therr whrte drnner Jackets As Junrors the class of one hundred srxty began to strrve to do therr best for they started to realrze that therr school days were drawrng to a close It was rn thrs year that the long awarted class rrngs and prns arrrved the class play whlch carrred w1th rt many memorres was one to be proud of and they entertalned the semors 1n Neptune s magrc world at the post prom party And now the culmrnatron of all the precedrng years was here they were senrors It was now up to them to set the examples for for all to follow Champronshap football baseball basketball hockey tennrs and track teams were led to yrctorres by senrors the class play We Shook the Famrly Tree was presented to the largest audrence ever to vrew a class play stmor prctures arrry ed and the words s1gn one for me rang rn the ears of senrors the strrkrng decoratrons and trophres at the Varsrty Drag provrded a memory wh1ch w1ll not easrly be erased outstandrng muslcal concerts whrch featured solorsts from the semor class were cons1dered to be some of the best ever presented the Jumor senror prom wrth all of tts magrc glow remtndtng them that thrs would be the last dance whlch they would attend at therr l'1gh school thrs was the whrrl wrnd of events whrch fllled their sen1or year Now they were all ready to take that frrst step up the long graduatron arsle As they walked toward the stage they were strll the carefree hrgh school students of yesterday but as they came back down that arsle they were mature young men and women Wrth the knowledge whrch they had recerved from therr teachers wrth the love and understandrng whrch therr parents showered upon them and w1th God s help they felt ready to embark upon the path of lrfe JANE KNILEY Class Hrstorran 30 1 X 7 s 5 1 r w i N I A A ,. . , . . .. . . . - Y , . a - 0 l 7 ' . . .
