'N Gluzobethtown Hugh School Eluzobethon V' CLASS HISTORY E thunk we see rt now that adventurous bark frerghted wrth the prospects for a future Commencement Day outward bound across the unknown sea of school We beheld It pursumg wlth many mlsgrvnngs a long and uncertam course As Freshmen of the Elnzabethtown Hrgh School we boarded the Elrzabethan rn Septem ber 1931 an enormous group of greenles begmmng a four year yournev through the lands of knowledge and study As we now recall we were consrstently makmg a great number of rnnocent blunders and furnrshnng very much amusement for the upper mates When the eve of the first year approached all tugged together forthe final tests were exceptronallv drflicult We then clxmbed up to the Sophomore deck of the good old shrp Were we not proud to have some of our lads takmg a real part nn the shrp s actnvltnes football baseball tennrs basketball and others, Wlthout our help the vessel would never have been able to carry w nth hugh honors rts heavy cargo As Junrors hugh held were our heads Proud were yve to be counted among the upper classmen More and more of the shnp s affairs were rntrusted to our hands Great enthus rasm hlled our ranks We were hlghlv complrmented both on the dramatrc entertainment whrch we furnlshed the shrp s company and on the banquet whrch we gave to the out gomg Semor shrpmates Although our dunes for the thrrd deck were verv arduous yet we gave a good Shrp Ahoy' for enjoyable deck three As Sennor Mates we have the dlstmctnon of bemg the first of thus shrp s crew to go through a long trammg course from grade seven to twelve rn thls our new burldrng We are also the first sarlors to adopt a new style of msrgnna trmgsj All our tasks have been per formed wnth great honors We have always trred to be worthy examples to our lower shnp mates and have always trred to show the greatest sympathv for an understandmg of the shortcomings of our mates on the lower decks well knowmg that they were due to lnexperl ence Whenever we could we trred to 'nd them realrzrng the shup can only breast the storm rf all labor together Now as we leave thus shrp we mean to sarl nobly onyvard and upward contmuxng to conduct ourselves rn such a manner that the Hlstory whlch the Pen of Tnme wrll record concermng us shall make the good shnp wnllrng to acknowledge us as her chrldren and alyvays hall us as the Hearty Sanlors of 35 MARION REEM JULIAJ Weiss l27l Q,-s,,.4 ,-- gs ' ' gf.. . . . -'- . , .
