We, the staff, sincerely dedicate this, the 1952 Elysian,
to our former teacher and coach, Mr. L. S. Isaacs. We shall
always remember him as a good coach, but most of all as
an excellent teacher whose limitless efforts were devoted
toward leading us to think intelligently.

in the light of God, maintaining the way of life truly
great men choose. May our good deeds accom-
plished branch out as the limbs on the tree, and
may our character stand the storms of life as the
mighty oak.
The theme of the 1952 Elysian is stated above.
We hope that we have included most of the mem-
ories you will wish to refresh when you depart from
Elise High. May we say good-bye as the Spaniards
do, "Vaya con Dios," "Go with God."

In the year of our Lord 1948 when the leaves of autumn were falling helter sl'elter
mell into the doors of Elise High The high school building was not an entirely new
enviroment for some of us because we had been in it while in the eighth grade But we
had to learn never to skip classes and to always be on time for them We were a happy
group of boys and girls, out for all the fun possible, and to get by with everything we
could.
Also in the year of '48 our coach, Mr, Hackney, became principal.
Mr Isaacs did a fine job as our advisor. To serve us for the freshman year, we
hither and yon over the campus: we, as a group of bright-faced freshmen, also 'fell pell'
elected Billy McAnulty as President, Mary Sue Farlowe, Vice-President: Louise Kennedy,
Treasurer: and Jackie Pendleton, Secretary. Our freshman year ended all too soon.
Our sophomore year we began with a new teacher, Miss Betty Thompson, Spanish
and English teacher. This year we were all seasoned veterans in high school. We elected
Louise Kennedy, President of the class and Billy McAnulty, Vice-President, with Robert
Welch as Treasurer. It seemed as though we had just started school when we found that
we had been promoted to the rank of juniors.
Our junior year was one that we will never forget, With Miss Thompson as our
teacher we presented a play called "Honey in the Hive," to make enough money to give
the seniors a banquet, The Junior-Senior Banquet, we were told, was one of the best
ever presented to the senior class. The officers were Billy McAnulty, Presidentg Nancy
Snider, Vice Presidentg Clara Maness, Treasurerg and Billy Moore, Secretary,
Our senior year passed by more quickly than any of our other school years. That
year we had Mr. Evans as our sponsor, We elected Clara Maness, Presidentg Nancy
Snider, Vice-President: J. A. Moore, Secretary: and Horace Farlowe, Treasurer, Each of
us tried to remember all of the days during the year, but that was impossible, The juniors
gave us a wonderful banquet, and before we knew it we were walking down the aisle,
getting ready to go out into the world. Some of us were going to continue our schooling
by attending colleges and universities,
In conclusion we would like to say that we have enjoyed our years at Elise High and
thai it will always hold a special place in our hearts, as will the friends that we made
while we were in school, We will form new friendships as we go our separate ways, but
we shall always remember and cherish our friends and classmates at Elise High School,

lt is a bright sunshiny day in the early autumn as I wander over the
grounds of Elise High School. It is the year 1960. As I wander around I
begin to think of some of my classmates back in 1952.
Just the other day I heard that Teeman Haithcock had become head
basketball coach at State College. Nancy Snider is now teaching Spanish
at Biscoe High School. Jack Key is fast becoming one of the South's finest
chemists. Who would have thought that Louise Kennedy would return to
Elise to be the Commercial Teacher? Well she did. Horace Farlowe and
Jackie Pendelton after completing their course at Clemson have entered
the Robbins Mills, Inc. as supervisors. Grace Hooker is head nurse at the
Moore County Hospital and Mary Sue Farlow'is holding the same position
in Charlotte. G. W. Davis, twice winner of the A. A. U. Outboard Motor
Boat Races, is now the owner of a large boat factory in Virginia. Leoma
Williams is now the private secretary to the governor. Harold McNeill has
recently opened a funeral home in Greensboro. The other day I saw W. A.
Hunsucker at Durham where he is the manager of the city bus service. He
is happily married and has two fine sons. Robert Welch is teaching agri-
culture at Carthage High School. Archie Williams is the manager of the
body department for General Motors, Inc. Clara Maness joined the Army
and is now one of their top nurses. J. A. Moore is the manager of the
Fayetteville branch of Cooper's Food Stores, Inc. Kathleen Brown is living
in Columbia, S. C. where she is the secretary to her husband, who is the
manager of a large construction company. Shirley Martindale and Shirley
Coker are both happily married and both are doing well in the poultry
business. Bill Moore is coaching baseball at Asheboro High School. Gret-
chen Hall is happily married and is living near Fort Bragg, N.C. where
her husband is stationed at the present. Peggy Hunsucker is the private
secretary to Mr. H. Lee Thomas of Carthage. Hobert Williams is driving
a Greyhound Bus and was awarded a safety medal by the company recently.
Roland Monroe us operating aShell Service Station, in Raleigh. Lawrence
McCrimmon is head football coach at the University of North Carolina.
lean Maness is a hair stylist for M, G. M, in Hollywood. Joyce Davis is
superintendent of nurses at Watt's Hospital in Durham.
As the shadows lengthened and the wind became brisker,I Bill Mc-
Anulty, Athletic Director at Elise High School turned toward the practice
field where football practice was under way thinking how much our class
had contributed to our community, state, and nation.

SPORTS SUMMARY i
The Elise High School Football team finished the season with a record
of six wins and one loss. The team was runner-up for the County Champ-
ionship,
In basketball, the boys have lost only 3 games of the 17 played. The
girls have lost 4 games of the 18 played, but for the first time in six
years, they won over their arch-rival Aberdeen. Both teams are look-
ing forward to victories in the Moore County Tournament.
The baseball team is looking forward to as successful a season this
year as that of last year. Last year they were county champions.
