With the opening of school in the fall of 1948, the sophomore class had 46 members. We chose as our class officers: President, Dorothy Prince, Vice- President, Fern Wells, Secretary-Treasurer, Connie Shenk. The two varsity cheerleaders representing our class were Marlene Holtz- apple and Connie Shenk. Late in October we had, as our social affair, a hayride under the direction of our class advisers, Miss Oyer and Mr. Searcy. We selected Marvin Metzger as representative to the Freedom Train in Lima. Dorothy Prince was our attendant to the Homecoming Queen. Larry Stevely and Fern Wells reigned as Carnival King and Queen. The sophomore class assembly was given at Christmas time. The boys making the first ten in basketball were: Herbert Lockett and Kay Boate, with the pair seeing lots of action in the hardwood sport. ..,.
