Tucker, Paul Jones-Secretary, Dr. P.E. Fish President, Howard Doores-Vice-President, Elwood Haynes, T.W. Burkhalter. These seven, civic minded men constitute the Board of Education for the Electra Independent District. At its monthly meetings, the Board of Education, with their adminis- trator, W.L. Hudson, discuss such problems as maintenance of buildings, salaries, and budgets and makes many important decisions whicheffect the life of the school and the community as a whole. Because of their unselfish service to the school and the community, the 1955 BENGAL is dedicated to the BOARD OF EDUCATION. During these seven years, the Tiger Band has won many honors. Among these are first place rating in concert and sight reading c ompe ti ti on at Enid, Oklahoma in 1953, sweepstake trophies in Texas for three successive years, and named sweep- stake outstanding band at Waurika, Oklahoma Band Festival: represented Region X at the State Fair three yearsg on one oc c asion led the parade of the bands at the Cotton Bowl on State Band Day, and on April Z1-22, 1955, they attended The Battle NCERT BAND Jeanie Brown, Kathy Burch, Ann McGann, Becky Talbot, Mary George Jones, Elaine Cogdell, Marilyn Frances Cooper, Janell Mertins, Tommy Tucker, James C ollins, Neva Perry, Linda Smith, James Brownlee. 3rd SEMICIRCLE: Barbara Pitt, Sara Carlisle, Virginia Miller, Judy McBroom, Janice Vestal Shirley, Leander Reis, Claretta McKenzie, Rosemary B yar s, Sandra Jones-President, Janie Don Marlow, Jimmy Your e e, Ted Miller, Deryl Mowe r y, Mickey Laird, John Lloyd, Willie Ford, Bobeen, Jerry Vincent, Faye Bowden, Joyce Boyd, Winell Jones, Glenda Wil s on, R onni e McBride, of the Flowers Celebration in San Antonio, T exa s as one of the 15 honored bands. Through the whole -hearted cooperation of the administrators, the classroom teach- ers, the Band Parents, the hard work of the director, Mr. Smith, each individual band member, and the community, Electra. has one of the outstanding bands of the State.
