Many of our plans had to be changed or failed to materialize, but we, your staff, have tried to depict the 1953 school life in a way that will help youto rememberthis year as one ofl the Electra High School's best. Every page of this book has become a symbol to us instead of just a page. Now, itis your book. We hope that you will read and re-read it and will cherish it for years to come. SHEPPARD TIM ROLLINS SECRETARIES TO ADMINISTRATION L. P. FRANCIS Secretary H. L. DOORES PAUL JACOBS MISS L YDIA KLINKER MAN Secretary We MRS. DOROT HY VESTAL Registrar Each passing day brings us nearer to the realization of our lifelong desires and ambitions which to some may mean the continuation of an education, now well under waygto others it may denote success in the field of businessg and to others it may signify the establishment and security found in a healthy, happy homeg but to all it means a way of life. We must strive to defend that way of life by the selection of our friends, by recognition ofa real need for a firm religious belief, and by acquiring thoroughly enlightened and honest political views. There is no better way to bring about the complete accomplishment of these ideals than the daily application of the well-known Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". MJZMAJ The American high school is the best example of democracy in action to be found anywhere. If young people are to understand democracy, it is necessary that they be permitted to live democratically and to develop the disciplines and techniques essential to happy group living. Electra High School, therefore, accepts the responsibility for enriching the lives of youth by bringing them into fruitful contact with the major values of democracy through the daily experiences of the individual student in school.
