SPORTS The l9h9-50 sports year was a successful season.We did not achieve first place in all the sports, but we were always near the top. The boys should be congratulated on their team sp1rit,perseverance, and ex- cellent sportsmanship which stayed with them throughout the season.Here are the fine records compiled by the teams. Volleyball For the third consecutive year, Elba won the area volleyball cham- pionship. Previous to last year all schools participated in one tour- nament. In l9h9, however, the schools were classified into two leaguesg the A and AA schools and the B and C schools. The class C and B games were held on different nights with the winners to meet for the finals. In class C, Elba defeated Kendall 15-1 and 15-9. Lyndonville fell 15-5 and 15-h, enabling us to play the class B winners. We met Alexander and overpowered them 15-3, l6fh, and 15-12, to win the league championship.
