MR. STAMFORD SHERWOOD
DEIJICHTIUH
SINCE he became Director of Athletics two years ago, Stan SheI'W0Od
has raised the standards of his teams and the morale of the entire student
body. He has carried out his theory of "Athletics for all" at E.C.S., and
recently established a lively summer community sports program. To A
Coach Sherwood-for his pleasant manner, his insistence that only through
good sportsmanship can we derive the true benefits of the game, and for
his emphasis on early physical, mental, and moral preparation for the .n
greater game of life-we gratefully dedicate this, our 1948 Revue.

The Class of 1949 highlighted its junior year by sponsoring a successful Prom,
the theme of which was the "Gold Rush of '49." By popular acclaim, Marcia Hark-
ness was chosen to reign as queen of the Prom, escorted by George Rowcliife and
attended by Florence Panek and Geraldine Marshall.
The Class rings, which were ordered early in the fall, arrived, much to om' de-
light, just before Christmas. 1,
In order to enrich our treasury, we served refreshments at the March of Dimes
Dance and also at the Firemen's Dance.
Various members of our class have achieved unusual accomplishments. Sue
Bonney, Marcia Harkness, and Harold Heidenreich attended the All-State Music
Festival at Medina. Richard Test was elected Vice President of the Student Coun-
cil and was chosen to represent our student body, with two seniors, as the state of
New Mexico at a mock presidential election to be held in Rochester. Many of our
members took part in the speaking contest.
Plans are underway for our Junior Play and a St. Patrick's Day Dinner.
We wish to thank our advisor, Mr. Schogoleff, for the help and guidance he has
given us making our Junior ' '
P
, year successful and one which we will remember with
leasure.

In intramural basketball games, the Seniors hold first place, with the Sophomores,
Juniors, and Freshmen following in that order.
We have been active in interschool basketball games. Two teams composed of Fresh-
men and Sophomores, and Juniors and Seniors played at Holley. The Freshman-Sophomore
tea.m was victorious. However, the other team was defeated by only a small margin.
The Sophomores and Juniors entertained Oakfield, defeating them in both games.
The Freshman girls journeyed to Jackson High in Batavia for a volleyball game in
which they were defeated.
Girls from grades 8-12 have participated in bowling at the Moose. Five girls repre-
sented our school in a bowling tournament at Attica. Olive Boyce was high scorer in the
singles with 144 pins.
Representatives of the G. A. A. attended a basketball clinic at Batavia High School where
rules were explained and demonstrated.
