EEASS-HlSIOR5L In the fall of 1930. Asher Borton,John Gillard,' and Ralph Gillard entered the old school as pupils in the first grade. One year later William Allen joined us. Jennie Fioren- tino and Joseph Zambito became members of the class in '34 and '35. Seventh and eighth grades saw many new faces as pupils from the outlying districts entered our midst. These included Betty Berg, Virginia Burns, Nellie Panek, Paul and Florence Tretter. As we en- tered the new school, Shirley Maloney, jean Andrews, Marian and Marjorie Saile, Shirley Rich, and Emma Evans were added to our class. The present class was now complete except for Howard Hartley and Nellie Lewandoske, who en- tered during our Sophomore year. During our Freshman year, among other things, we presented a one-act play, 'Country Cousins',during an assembly and held a Hallo- we'en party. Our banner, purchased the year before, was the first to hang in the new school. E 'Hobgoblin House' 'Hobgoblin House' was one of the most horrible, hair-raising mysteries ever to be staged in Elba Central. The intense moments of horror are balanced by comedy furnished by Delilah and Henry. N CAST Darius Krupp.- .... u.- .............. How- ever,we still found time for several parties. As juniors in 1940-1941, we held a suc- cessful Harvest Dance, and presented a three- act comedy, 'Trouble in Paradise', which was a huge success. One morning the entire class was found to be bruised and shaken as the re- sult of a roller skating party held in Roch- ester. We presented flowers at Class Night, and served the Alumni Banquet. We ended the year with an all-day excursion to Crystal Beach, Canada. With the profit obtained from our Senior play, 'Hobgoblin House', we were able to buy our rings, announcements, and cards. During the last two years in high school, we have been under the able supervision of Mr. Benton We take this opportunity to thank him sincere- ly for his whole-hearted cooperation in every- thing we have undertaken. Among the many horrible blood-thirsty events of the play were the hideous screams supposedly coming from the lost head of Nellie Bronson. What could be more horrible than the tolling of the funereal-sounding ghost bell and the appearance of the Headless Phantom? The production of 'Hobgoblin House' was a huge financial success. Approximately ninety dollars was cleared.
