20 HENRY FAIRBANKS, Vice President NOLAN L. NOBLE, President PROUD TO TEACH The El Rancho Teachers, Association was organized the year El Rancho opened its doors. It has been an active organization since then. One hundred and eight teachers are members. and they work in a spirit of good will to improve the standing of the teaching profession. They cooperate with many community agencies such as the Parent-Teachers' Association and Whittier High School District Board of Trustees to further the purpose of education. The organization is the teachers' spokesman to the community and the school administration. The Associationis accomplishments are many. Especially noteworthy was its generous contribution to the Community Chest Fund. The participation in the Blue-Gray Varieties and the Faculty-Varsity Basketball game was fun for students and teachers alike and served the purpose of raising money for the annual El Rancho Teachers' Association Scholarships. These scholar- ships are awarded each year to two outstanding senior students who are interested in teaching. Beach parties. square dances, and theater parties, and other social events are held throughout the year to supplement the many professional activities in which the teachers are involved. Each month a meeting is held to tackle some professional problem.
