BCDARD The purpose ot the G.A.A. Board is to control and organize all G.A.A. activities. lt upholds school standards and always offers its services when needed by the school. One of their outstanding services this year was Operation Donation. The Board sponsors G.A.A. sports after school, Mother and Daughter Tea, Dad and Daughter Sports Night, playdays at El Rancho and other schools, and money making activities. Their duties include officiating at all playdays and during G.A.A. softball and volleyball. Rivera Junior High, North Park, and Mary E. Meller schools ioin in the activities. The girls participate in basketball, volleyball and softball during the playdays. With the help of Miss Irene Urashi, officials' advisor, this year's playdays have turned out to be one of the best in El Rancho's history. The Father and Daughter Sports Night is an exciting activity sponsored by the G.A.A, Board. Headed by Miss Hagler, volleyball and basketball was enioyed by the Dads and their daughters. The Mother and Daughter Tea, held in May, is to acquaint girls' mothers and to install new officers. Awards were given away and farewell was bid to the old officers who helped in making this year a big success. Under the direction of Mr. Arthur Hillson, the band attained many honors and awards this past year. Not only did the band as a whole group win awards, but some ofthe members earned in- dividual awards also. From the very first game of the football season at the beginning of the school, the Don band was on hand to perform with the Drill Team and pepsters to keep the spirit of Donville high. During the year, the band traveled with the pepsters to the Pomona Fair and played there. Also, they played at the Whittier High School Festival where they competed with other schools and earned a superior rating. At the close of the year a party was held tor all ot the members.
