My leams were hampered by a limiled number of players, and by +he absence of seniors. Some of my buildings were no? yel finished a+ The beginning of school. There were no lawns, no cloclcs, no eleclric lighls in 'rhe buildings and no lunch rooms. Bul' all of fhese fhings seemed noi +o discourage my people, bul' ra+her lo presenr a real challenge. Through hard worlc, pafience and cooperalion from +he s+uden'rs, facul+y adminis+ra+ion and all o'rhers concerned wi+h l'he operafion of +he school we came ou+ on lop. ln all of California l'here will be no school iusl' like me. l was nor buill' by making addilions +o an already exisling plan? bul' inslead l am a complere unil' planned a+ one +ime. People were sent to other schools to study their plans ot student govern- ment. These students returned to school with some very good ideas about how our school might be governed. FROSH IMPCDRTANT IN lst YEAR The freshmen were no1 rhe only students to be new to El Rancho this year, the sophomores and juniors were just as new and at first the whole school was in a turmoil, but after the first week everything setlled down and went along smooihly. For the 'lirsl' 'rime the 'freshmen had an imporlanl' role in starting the traditions and this will help them 'ro become future leaders. The Freshmen Talent Show was very successful, Next year they will have many other activities in which +o enter since as sophomores 'rhey will be beH'er adapted to high school life.
