Throughout the 1991 Mediterranean deployment, Second Division Deck Depart- ment was responsible for the aft section of the USS EL PASO. Thirty-five boatswain ' s Mates expertly prepped, primed, and paint- ed ship ' s spaces extending from the Flight Deck to the Port Quarterdeck, from the top of the King Posts to the lower levels of Holds 3 and 4. This work was further enhanced by the artistic talents of several sailors from the division. Second Division has proven themselves to be the resident experts in the perfor- mance of evolutions. Our proper use and maintenance of boom equipment facilitated a rapid transaction of fuel during under- way replenishment and safe transportation of cargo, vehicles, and boats during 1 Alpha evolutions. Although the deploy- ment kept us very busy, we still enjoyed liberty in many Mediterranean ports; Haifa, Benidorm, Frejus, Thessaloniki, and Palma de Mallorca have left many memo- ries which will not soon be forgotten. Whether at play or at work. Second Divi- sion has given a positive image, extending American good will and support through- out the Mediterranean. We are Second Divi- sion, second to none!
