There are also all the plays, musicals and concerts that we've performed. We have grown up together, learned to respect one another, and have stood by each other in all we have set out to accomplish. None of these goals could have been achieved without dedication, pride, and a determination within us that wanted to bring success to this school. All will remember this foundation, the good time as well as the bad times together, the people for one reason or another. Now we must start a new path in our lives. They won the Wenona tournament for the 3rd straight year, finished 3rd in the Woodford County tournament and finished 2nd in the Midstate Conference with a 12-2 record. There were a variety of reasons for this success: the best depth in several years, 8 players played at least 60 quarters, more size than usual, and excellent man to man defensive skills. Three players received post-season honors. Rod Smoots Kraig Crump received 1st Team All Conference awards and Scott Morgan was a 2nd team choice. 44J.V. His 36-5 record copped off an exceptional season against the toughest competition in the state. His wins at state were by a pin and scores of 6-3 and 15-2. His only loss came to the eventual State Champion. Two of his other losses were to the other boy who placed 2nd in the State. As a whole, a young El Paso squad did well. Six boys in the line-up were underclassmen or first year wrestlers. Other highlights of the season were Dan Newkirk's 33-2 record, along with five tournament championships. Mike Bigger placed second at the District tournament and advanced to Sectionals. Other Sectional qualifiers were Dan Newkirk and Troy Mann, who placed 4th, just missing a State Tournament berth. Again, congratulations go out to the entire team. Thanks for all your efforts and participation. COACH SCHROEDER Coach Schroeder along with his 1984-85 captains: Dan Newkirk and Brian Copple. The people here are very friendly, they always helped me in any problems that I happened to have at school and elsewhere. I played football and tennis for El Paso High School this year. 1 remember my first football practice, my body was very sore. And I want to thank you for letting me represent you in tennis. My teachers were, with me, very good, they helped me out a lot. My first impression of El Paso High School was very good because El Paso is mixed, boys and girls. I had fun all year chasing the girls. When 1 return to Columbia, I bring home the memories of all the fun times that I had at El Paso. Good-Luck to the 1985 Senior class in the future with all you do. AFS Officers: Jackie Andrews, Secretary; Mrs. Cope. Sponsor; Tina Oliver. Treasurer; June Marshall, President; Becky Vander-graft, Vice President RICARDO A MONTOYA FEENEY I really enjoyed this year. At first, it was so hard to get used to living in El Paso. I couldn't understand what people were talking about. Everything was new, different, sometimes I felt like nothing could help. But, soon I met many people and they were so nice to me. Without them. I wouldn't be able to have such a good AFS year. Homecoming week was so much fun. Dance, funny dressing, and parade. I'll never forget it. Also, I can't forget about volleyball, musical Bye Bye Birdie ", Christmas, IMEA All-State Chorus. "Sweetheart” of Valentine's Dance during track, the wonderful encouragement, "Come on Suki, you can do it!", helped me get through the 2 miles. Every single day is a good memory. I can't forget. But. having so many friends, having fun with them, is the most memorable. Not only in classes but anytime, teachers and friends helped me. I really appreciate them. Now, El Paso is my home town. To leave my home is difficult. But, I'll come back sometime. Again. Thank you for everything. I'll never forget you. I'll never forget EPHS. 85 YASUKO TSUDA SCHAIRER 64F.F.A. Seiver, M. Sennott, R. Schlipf For the first time in several years the music and drama departments of EPHS combined efforts to present the Musical, Bye Bye Birdie. Though rehearsals were a problem because of football and volleyball conflicts, the cast persevered. The result was an excellent performance by members of the cast and chorus. Highlights of the two performances were many —the gyrations and flirtatious songs of glittering Conrad Birdie, Chris Dodsen; the somewhat strained quartet singing Ed Sullivan" — the audience loved it when they broke up; Laura Duke's infatuation with Conrad; Danny Newkirk's "drunk" on milk; Brett McDaniel's love affair with the camera — who could forget that dance that brought the house down?; the doll that fell out of the refrigerator and moving furniture and trains backstage; Mrs. Musick and Mark Sennott blowing train whistles; Yasuko's nimble fingers playing the "traveling music"; Barb Lush's glasses, coat, broken purse, and bucket and her endearing "Yoohoo "; the telephone song, steplad-ders and cardboard phones included. The musical owed much of its success to the hard work and dedication of the leads — Jamie Weber and Greg Feeney. It was a special treat to see Jamie's "Spanish Rose" routine and Greg's "Put on a Happy Face." The entire experience was delightful for everyone involved, providing a special memory of the fall of 1984.
