COACH S COMMENTS . . • LESS DUNMIRE--a dedicated senior who will be missed next
ffrJrTUad ng rebounder and scorer, averaging 16 points. All-Conference first team. CHUCK KEAR-
FOTT--a fine shooter who averaged 12.2 points. His ability and desire will be missed. KEN DRESSLER- -
though a late-comer to basketball, Ken's feeling toward the game, his willingness to work hard, and his
ability can make him a standout. CRAIC CONSTANT-a fine young athlete--we hated to see him move
away. We all wish him the best and say he can play on our team any time. DOUG RATHBUN--a player
who gets noticeably better with each game. His defense and speed should make him one of the real
tough ones next year. MIKE SNYDER--a player who learning to do it all. His hustle, desire, and defense
are making him a tough all-round performer. CURT HEIBENTHAL--every team needs a steady ball
handler who doesn't rattle under pressure. At El Paso, his name is Curt. MARK DUFFY--a tough com-
petitor who can hustle and play offense and defense. Mark's defense will shake up a lot of them next
year.Track

220 yd. Dash, 5th (Snyder)
El Paso High School's track team finished a successful season by winning the Midstate Conference
Track Crown. A third place trophy was also won in class C of the Normal Relays. Mike Snyder set a
school record in the 220 yd. dash with a time of 22.6 sec. Les Dunmire broke his own school record in
the discus with a throw of 1487". The 880 yd. varsity relay team was quite successful tieing the Wood-
ford County record of 136.3 and setting a conference record of 136.9. This relay team made up of
Mike Snyder, Chuck Kearfott, Mark Hynes, and Dick Malcom was also invited to participate in the
Pantagraph Area Honor Roll Track Meet because of it's outstanding record. Dick Malcom, four year
track letterman and outstanding performer, was elected Captain and Most Valuable by his teammates.
Dick also tied his old record of 10.5 in the 100 yd. dash. A fine effort was given by many boys to help
out the team. Special mention should be given to Mike Brush, Tom Hankey, Steve Stauter (Seniors) who
gave a little extra to help make the team a success.

Carolyn Cousins, El Paso's AFS student arrived August 3 at the
home of Richard Berlin. Carolyn gave several talks and attended
various AFS week-ends, one of them being here in El Paso, Feb-
ruary 14-16. The AFS Annual Smorgasbord was held March 15
at the Centennial Cafeteria.
To the Students and People of El Paso, my American family
--the Berlins, my own family and to AFS . . . Thank you for a
happy, fulfilling, and enjoyable year. I know I'll always have a
place in my heart for these fine memories.

The 1968-69 El Paso F.H.A. Chapter have been quite
busy this year. In November, they sponsored a candle sale.
December brought the Christmas spirit and the members
took gifts to the nursing homes. In January, a pizza party in
the Home Economics room allowed the girls a chance to
show their skills. April brought the annual Chicago Trip,
and the members closed their year in May with the Mother-
Daughter Tea and Installation of Officers.

FRENCH CLUB
Among the activities that the French Club did
this year were a Thanksgiving dinner and a field
trip to I.S.U. Foreign Laboratory.
The Thanksgiving dinner was combined with the
former Spanish Club. Entertainment was provided by
the "19th Amendment."
The field trip to I.S.U.'s Foreign Laboratory was
made by the French II classes. This proved to be
exciting and memorable.

This is the phrase designated as the adminis-
trative theme of all Key Clubs for 1968-69. Keep-
ing these words in mind, the Key Club of El Paso
High School directed many of its projects to the
children of our area. Once again the members or-
ganized a Saturday recreation program for 4th,
5th, and 6th graders. The bi-weekly programs pro-
vided the boys with instructions in basketball,
tumbling, swimming, and various track activities.
On alternate Saturdays, cartoons and a feature
movie were shown for the enjoyment of all area
youths.
On several occasions Key Clubbers from El
Paso picked up "buddies" at Salem Children's
Home and treated them to a day away from the
routine. Their trip carried them from basketball
courts and bowling alleys to football games at the
U. of I. Organization of the National Vehicle Safety
for Christmas were just two outward signs of the Key
The El Paso Key Clubber rounded up another year of serving their community, school and nation by
honoring their parents and advisors at the annual Parent Appreciation Banquet.
