Much to my regret, you were not among my guests at the Reunlon of the Class of '40 of E.T.
H S I shall endeavor to tell you sonethlng of our classmates, all of whom were on board
As we salled along we were much amused to see Dorathy Peters Parr son trylng to keep her
elght sons out of the way of Junlor Wllllamson, Notre Dane's Coach, who was demonstratlng some
of the maneuvers that helped his football team w1n the Blg Ten trophy th s year These same
elght youngsters were also much 1nterested 1D the Blue R1bbon Bob Hllger was displaylng It
was won by h1s steer, 'Fat Stuffn whlch was shown at the Internat1onal L1V9StO0k Show last
wlnter
Rad1o and the movles seem to have taken the1r share of our classmates Remember Fred
Edwards, the usher at the little El Paso Theater? It d1dn't take him long to get started on
h1s m11lion, for he is now owner of the largest theater in Chicago Next week his theater 18
showlng 'GONE WITH TH AIRH starrlng those screen sweethearts,F1eanor Desmond and Vlctor Roush.
I heard B111 Dunmlre, the Hollywood Scandal Reporter, say over the radlo last week, that they
have already started buildlng a new home in Beverly Hllls Oh, I forgot o mentlon that V1rg1l
wood d1rect1n1 one of the biggest productlons n years. The sponsors of the radlo program,
'Br1ng uEm Home Dead written by Allen Campbell are golng to start BdV9YtlSlUg Harold CUHHLHV

ham's nLaugh and Grow Fat' reduclng tablets.
It 13 surprlslng how many of our classmates have gone 1nt0 buslness There's Kenneth
Barron wlth hls new IOUILOOSE bunlon cure, Betty Barney, and her Betty Watch Factory at Panola,
and Loren Alt, Bob Bower, and Jesse oarr1tners, who have the A. B. k C Publxshlng Company
They have Just publlshed Emma Bo1an's new book, 'How to Win and Keep Two Boy Frlends N She 1B
the f6m1D1DB Dale Carnegle. Dean Bell has sold the Bell Pack1ng House 1n Peoria and he and his
wife are golng to spend the next few months 1n Alaska. After they return he wlll retire
just play golf and ping pong Then there's Don Burroughs, who has the 'wh18tllHg Cab Serv1ce
Every time a passenger starts to critic1ze the dr1v1ng or taxi service, the patent whistler
toots Once when Marlan Shepherd, recent Academy Award winner for her performance in 'Romeo and
Jul1st,' was enroute to the station in Don's cab,the whlstle stuck and all the v11lagers turned
out for a fxre.
Foreign shores have called many of the group to fame and fortune. Perhaps I should say
misfortune for Gene Dressler who is still using crutches He had a bad fall and broke his leg
during a ski jumping contest in Switzerland recently Lyle Armstrong has acquired a BTit1Bh
accent, and, believe it or not, he wears a monocle I d1dn't thlnk l1v1ng ln England would
ever do that to him It must be n1ce to be a man of lelsure' and act as a companion to the
Prlnoe of Wales. Rosemary Bennett 18 back home from India on a two month's leave from her mis
sionary dutie there This is the first tlmb she has been back slnoe 1943 Betty Anne Steider
is the new Secretary to the American Ambassador to Italy She says she llkes Italy fine, but
the thing that bothers her is that she can't step out the door without her boots because she is
always getting water in the bottom of her gondola. Evelyn Pumke and Eleanor Plnkham are in
Paris now. Evelyn is deslgnlng clothes and Eleanor does the modeling They are known as E P
k E P , Designer a Modeler. They are going to start a branch store 1n New York City next fall
