We, the annual staff of the 1973 Bulldog,
have decided to dedicate this year's annual to
Memories. This school year has been one of
memories, some good and some bad.
ln the world, President Nixon was re-
elected by a landslide of votes, carrying all
states but oneg he also made his historic trips
to the Peopleis Republic of China and to
Russia. Many Americans were saddened the
day after Christmas, when after three weeks of
illness, the former President Harry S. Truman
died. Less than a month later, on January 22,
the only living former president, Lyndon
Baines Johnson, died after a sudden heart at-
tack.
ln school there was the memory of many
new and different things. A new superinten-
dent came to Eldo, bringing with him new and
sometimes different ideas. French was added
to curriculumg also Fiction and Advanced
Composition, and Vocabulary and Mythology
for Seniors who wished to take a fourth year of
English. New lights were installed at the foot-
ball field, a track record board was made to
put in the lobby, and an athletic schedule
board was built on the back lawn ofthe school.
Yes, for the most part, this year will be a
good one to look back on.
Pictures, clockwise from here: The El Dorado
Springs Jr.-Sr. High School as it is seen by
someone on the outside. Donna Patrick tries
to convince the jury in Contemporary Issues'
mock trial that "Sonia Scott, alias Phyllis
Lines, is indeed guilty of murdering Martha
Harvey, alias Terresa Brewer. Mr. Steve
Thomas relaxes after a long day of hard
work. Mr. Thomas is the speech correction
teacher for the school. The Bulletin board fix-
ed by Mrs. Medearis. The El Dorado Springs
track record board, located outside the gym.
The 1973 school year will long be remembered
because ofthe many days ofschool misseddue
to bad weather. Here some of the snow is still
on the ground. In the background, the flag is
seen flying at half mast to commemorate the
death of Harry S. Truman. The Journalism Il
class takes time out from their busy schedule
of annual work to pose for their picture.

have to know the basic theorems, Upper right

Reading clockwise from copyblock: Sophomores had their
own hall, "Hall of Fame". .Ian Mayberry and Julie Lewis ex-
press their feelings in their art work. Sophomores enjoy play-
ing in the snow. Lynn Francis and Ronnie Whitesell
strengthen their arm muscles. Driver's Education is still fun
even though it's a regular class. Typing increases the feeling
of competition. LaDanta Broughton was the sophomore can-
didate for Barnwarming.

just can't believe Barb Hughey has finally opened her

get to her. . . Mr. Tinsley's 5th hour chemistry class
is 21 real blast, while algebra II is all work. Mrs.
Kitchens makes English III interesting to hold
juniors' attention. Art requires hard work.

Twelve years ago we started out with
nothing and now we have gathered treasures
that are too precious even for words, These
treasures, love, friendship, knowledge, and
hope, will withstand all the barriers of time.
Clockwise from here: The two big events at
EHS were Basketball Homecoming and Foot-
ball Homecoming. The two girls who were
chosen queen were Debbie Mitchell fleftj and
Cathy Jones frightj. The varsity basketball
squad was supported by two Senior boys, Ar-
mando De La Rosa and Zande Eckard. Here
they are shown with Coach Tilford, var-
sity coach. Senior twirlers, Karen Taylor and
Becky Sorensen agree that being twirler is as
much fun as it is work. Karen Taylor
represented the Senior class as candidate for
Miss Merry Christmas. Harvest Queen can-
didates Terresa Brewer. Joyce Nikodim, Don-
na Patrick, and Neoma Schantz are trying to
eliminate the competition. The varsity football
squad consisted of nine Senior players. Here
they are shown in the game against Pleasant
Hill, Senior cheerleaders show the spirit stick.
They are Donna Patrick, Joyce Nikodim,
Terresa Brewer. and Cathy Jones. Donna
Patrick. Black Walnut Festival candidate,
congratulates Heart Throb King, Larry
Biddlecome on his victory.

Seniors Today
Leaders Tomorrow
This year many Seniors realized for the first
time that they were rapidly growing into the
young adults that would soon be the leaders of
tomorrow. To many, this realization was
frightening and unacceptable. To others. it
meant a whole new world was opening up for
them and they were ready to accept its
challenge. Fortunately, EHS offered its
Seniors many opportunities for help in becom-
ing better leaders.
Clockwise from here: Two delegates from the
army speak to Seniors concerning the oppor-
tunities in the army on Armed Forces Day.
Mrs. Medearis helps Seniors with their after-
graduation plans. Here she is helping Phyllis
Lines decide what courses she should take in
college. Eldon Amick sacks groceries at his
afternoon DECA job. DECA students learn to
dress mannequins in fourth hour DECA class.
Mrs. Medearis advertises College Day. Many
Seniors interested in going to college had to fill
out an application for admission to the college
of their choice. Mrs. Darlene Tudor speaks to
Seniors on Career Day. Senior class ofticers:
Rita Ehlers, treasurer. Neoma Schantz.
secretary. Jerry Mitts. Vice-president. Tom
Huff. president. Some Seniors prepare for the
future by taking bookkeeping.
To some Seniors school was all work and no
play. But to the other ninety-nine percent it
was a year of fun. It was a year that meant
sharing responsibility and moments of joy.
Although everyone had a different meaning
for the word fun, everyone found fulfillment of
his definition in the most fantastic year ever -
1973.
Clockwise from here: David Chism is doing
the same thing he does everyday at noon:
nothing. Lana Brooner was a new addition to
the varsity football team. Gordon Pierce
thinks ice cream is good. The Senior class
sponsored a concession stand at one of the
football games. Ruth Graf, Shauna Beason,
Kauna Beason, Rita Ehlers and Alice Spencer
take time-out from their busy schedule to act
stupid. Jim Tinsley rears back to show the
supreme strength in his arms. John Bishop
looks at his meal in dismay. Arlinda Vittetoe
and Penny Davis fight over who's going to get
a mouth full of foam first. Julie'Acheson ex-
plains to Joe Eaves that she's always had that
peaches and cream complexion. Roger Bishop,
Logan Harrison, Lyle Onckelet and John
Bishop talk over the fate of the world. Sheila
Marshall, Anne Kincaid, Phyllis Lines and
Linda Perrodin are practicing their part in the
New York Opera.

Clockwise from here: Patches ofall kinds were
popular during our Senior year. Becky
Sorensen and Sheila Marshall were just two
Senior girls who enjoyed wearing the midi and
the mini length of dress. Wearing the POW
bracelet was just one way the Seniors showed
that they cared about peace in Vietnam. The
smock, often called 'ta mommy top", was a
popular style for the Senior girls. The Senior
boys, Jeff Day and Charles Morris, followed
the styles by wearing overalls. Lana Brooner
was just one Senior girl who enjoyed having
her hair long. When it rains the midi coat and
the domedfshaped umbrella are a must, Brent
Kelsey and Jerry Mitts agree that long hair
and sideburns are "in" for guys. About the
middle of the year, wide-legged pants and
blazers came to EHS. Lana Brooner, along
with many other girls, liked the look they
gave. Blue jeans, Shawls, and levi jackets were
the comfortable things to wear to school. Pic-
tured here is Arlinda Vittetoe and Gary Poore.

Fifth Graders Like
Dressing ut for P.E
In fifth grade we do lots of things that we have never done in school
before. This year. in the cafeteria, we are allowed to sit anywhere we want
to and when we are finished eating we can leave and go back to our
rooms. Instead of changing classes when the teacher tells us. we leave
when the bell rings at the end of the hour. We have study halls every day
which means we can get most of our homework done at school and not
have to take so much home with us. We get to know our upperclassmen in
fifth and sixth grade choir. Gym is a lot more fun this year because we get
to dress out.
The pictures are clockwise starting in the upper right hand corner. Top
Right: Mrs. Maxine Wilson has been teaching in El Dorado for 19 years.
Center Far Right: One ofthe 144 fifth grade students who enjoy dressing
out for gym is Pam Maxwell. Center Right: Tina Frey cheers ber team on
to victory in P.E. Far Bottom Right: Sometimes wejust goof off! Bottom
Center Right: We like open house because sometimes the teachers brag
on us! It gives us a chance to show off our work to our parents. Center
Bottom left: Boo! Bottom Left: Sometimes we even surprise the teachers
and study! Top Left: Mrs. Elaine Monroe is one of our very favorite
teachers.

We Walk Back from the
Cafeteria b urselves N
In the fifth grade students are
allowed more freedom. Students
are able to leave the lunchroom
anytime they are through eating.
They are allowed to select their
elective courses, such as art, choir,
beginners band or orchestra, and
study hall. This year they are finally
allowed to keep their own weekly
lunch tickets.
Art class gives fifth graders the
chance to use their artistic minds to
create priceless pieces of art. Fifth
graders can always count on the
guiding hand of Mrs. Vickers when
they are looking for a library book.
Mrs. Koca teaches her fifth grade
music classes the various musical
instruments. Mrs. Baumgarner
helps her students during study hail.
Fifth graders await their Valen-
tine's Day party. Mrs. Barbour
checks daily papers,

Kindergarten s the
Bestest Grade of ll
Kindergarten is a time to prepare us for the years ahead, We learn to
get along and make new friends with those around us. At the same time, we
learn to work and play, even if we really don't want to. That's how we learn
to cooperate.
Pictures reading clockwise from the copy are: Lindsey McWilliams enjoys
reading a book and looking at the pictures. As we watched the Christmas
program, the teddy bear had to see too. It's nice not to have worries like the
big kids do. Mrs. Williams plays songs on the piano for us sometimes. We
even learn songs to sing.
B
We Ma e

Friends
Above: The jungle gym can be lots of fun. Below:
After playing so hard, we have time out for a nap.
Mrs. Cross tells us a story. On the opposite page,
Mrs. Lois Wakefield looks on as we play outside. It's
supposed to be nap time but, some ofusjust rest. We
tell each other secrets and keep them too. Upper right
corner: Mrs. Kincaid helps us when we have trouble.
In kindergarten, we learn to share with our new
friends - even our glue. Welre always ready to eat a
hardy meal at noon. We leave Liston School and go
to the cafeteria to eat with the big kids.

Lots of New
Experiences
Pictures reading clockwise are: Cathy
Marshall swinging at play period. Mrs. Cross
helps us with our work. A really new ex-
perience is eating in the cafeteria. We even eat
with silverware instead of our hands now that
we're in school. We have our own water foun-
tains too. We wait in line and take turns even
if we're dying for a drink. We learned the
Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of the
year. so that we could say it every morning.
We get to goofoflonce in a while. but not very
often. What we really like to do though is art
work - coloring, drawing, and cutting out
things. Mrs. Graf is one of our helpers.
Whenever we have a problem, she helps us. As
you can see, we have lots of experiences.
