Presenting Our Band - Best from Here to D.C. rw ff A ff! f 5 J 2 R H 3 x......f Trumpet Trio This year was the roughest and toughest for our "rough ol' tough ol' marching band." Starting in june with the opening of Yakima's Diamond jubilee Celebration, the band. formed mainly of incoming sophomores, prepared for the jubilee Parade while our German Band practiced for their part in the "Span'a-Rama." just before school started our band entered a competition in Walla VC'a'lla and brought home a first place marching trophy. School routine gave time to prepare con- certs for the Central Wfashington Fair. After that ca.me football season with our band performing at almost every game. At the Davis game, our Clarinet Quartet Trombone Quartet schools combined their band and drill teams for a massive half-time spectacle. Before their feet could thaw from football games, their busy schedule was further complicated by preparations for a trip to Washington, D.C., to take part in the Inaugural Parade. Band Parents, the Chamber of Commerce and school patrons joined forces and collected 23,700 dollars to make this nine day trip possible. An appreciation concert was present- ed to the public after the band returned. This has been a year to be remembered, a highlight in band history and a proof that working together can produce unbelievable results.
