A day devoted the deed That lends a helping hand And demonstrates a willingness To care and understand. I long to be of usefulness In little ways and large Without a selfish motive And without the slightest charge. Because in my philosophy There never is a doubt That all of us here on earth Must help each other out. I feel that day is fruitful And the time is worth the while When I promote the happiness Of one enduring smile. — Anonymous Dedication 3The Way We Were Scattered pictures of the smiles we left Smiles we gave to one another... behind ... 4 Sounds of '83 The Sounds of ’83Or has time rewritten every line ... Neese An era ends for me and for you upon graduation. You have reached the final milestone of public education when you graduate from E.H.S. in June. I hope you have taken advantage of every opportunity available during your high school years. If you have, the future and all the changes to come will not be a problem. I know those of you who have accepted the challenges and taken advantage of the opportunities will be able to cope with the challenge of the future, the changes yet to come. You will succeed if you want to succeed which means patience, fortitude and hard work. Your high school years, as you look back, will have been the best years of your life. Never again will you have had it made as you did during your high school years. To the class of 1983, graduation is the beginning of bigger and better things. Good luck to you wherever you go and in whatever you do. Thank you for sharing these years. I am glad you went to E.H.S. John M. The combined record for the "Ladies" is 31 wins and 7 losses. That record gives girl's basketball the highest winning percentage of all the sports programs at E.H.S., 82%. The Varsity Ladies brought home trophies from the two tournaments they played in. They took 2nd place at the Union City Invitational and for the third year in a row took 1st place in the Warren County Tournament! The Classy Ladies have also qualified to represent the Al-Kin league in the District 10 P.i.A.A play-offs. Being a part of the Lady Knights Team was the highlight of my years at E.H.S. I learned the meaning of the words, Dedication, Perfection, Pressure, Desire, Sweat, Team work, and many more. Through my coaches I found I could train and control my body and mind. Yes, there was much hard work and time put into the seasons, but every minute was worth it. I am sure that none of us, will ever forget, the fun and the pride in being a "Lady Knight!" Girl’s Basketball 101Desire, guts, and hustle were three key words to describe our 1982-83 season. With a 14-8 season, most of our games we won were won on these three factors. The games we did lose, we never gave up, always giving 100%. The team strived all year long to achieve one goal, which was to participate in postseason play offs. We achieved that goal and represented the Al-Kin league in District-10 playoffs, even though we did not win the league title I hope that having the team and season we had will increase the participation and interest in our basketball program. Boy s Basketball 105106 WrestlingThe 1983 Fighting Knights showed wrestling fans steady improvement from the first match on, through the season. The Knights completed a 7-13-1 dual meet record. The senior wrestlers were led by cocaptain Brad Carlson, who built an impressive record before an injury put him out of competition. Injury both on and off the mat seemed to dominate our senior boys. Other seniors hampered by injury and unable to fulfill their true potential were: Ralph Miller, Ken Moon, Phil Nystrom, Rich Bakewell, Paul Kemery, Ted Johnson, and Harold Roberts. The underclassmen that are paving the way for a championship team in the near future are led by a solid group of juniors. Eric Spelling and John Phillips posted impressive records on their way to a championship. Chuck Roberts continued to improve throughout the season and copper off the year with a fourth place finish at a tough section tournament. Other up and coming juniors include Terry Anthony, John McNutt, Lance Hea-ly, Jim Keller, and Norman Kenny. The steadily improving sophomores showed determination and drive and all posted winning records. Sophomores included John Bortz, Ray Bakewell, Dean Morton. Freshman stand-outs on varsity included Scott Irwin, Greg Barnett, and Dave Bortz. Look out opponents the 1983-84 season looks to be a super year for the Eisenhower Knights.
