lass Prophecy Jane Sipes Sunset Boulevard Hollywood, California May 14, 1986 Dear Janet, I have just returned to California from a visit to our hometown, Effingham, Illinois. It is surprising how much I learned about our high school graduating class of '66, Who do you think I met and talked to in the beauty shop? Carol Chamberlain Kinkelaar who is living in St. Louis with Danny and their 10 blonde headed brats. She informed me of the drastic changes in the faculty at E, H, S, Bob Weaver is the new agriculture teacherg Jackie Banning is the head gymnastics in- structorg Greg Conrad is the golf coachg Ron Goodwin is taking up where coach Gil Jones left offg Susan Sutton is the typing teacher, Myra Percival has a special poetry courseg and Bob Tieffel and Richard Ei- dent are the D, E, and D, O, instructors. The most enjoyable class is that of Professor Owen Williams which is Pre-College Sex. The Effingham Junior College has hired Linda Nelson as the head P, E, in- structor, Perry Colclasure as a math instructor, and Joe Carr as the brilliant physics teacher, While sitting under the hair dryer, I began reading the magazine, I was shocked to read that Sam Devore and Jennifer Hastings have bought all the Arthur and Kathryn Murray Dance Studios. Next month, Sandy Bloemker is beginning her debut in the broadway play, The Boys 84 I. Three whole pages were devoted to Knob Rentfrow modeling clothes for tall girls. The last page was a huge picture of Noel Potts winning the National Surfer's Championship. Ruth Soltwedel, professor of agriculture at the U. of I. , just walked in with the news that Johnson's funeral home, owned by Judy, has finally sold out to David Mills' funeral home. Tex and Kay Loy have been made managers of the Shell Oil Company. Glenn Lewis, who plays his hot trumpet at the Crystal Bar, has just cut a record I'M IN LOVE WITH BRENDA, He predicts it to be a best seller. Upon leaving the beauty shop, I turned in on N-E-E-T, the radio news program conducted by Mike Cooper, Gerald Fagan's recently constructed supermarket, the Big F, is opening in one week. Bob Beck- ler, Glen Campbell, and John Althoff, tri-owners of the Oasis were forced to close down their business for serving minors. A local resident, Terry Croft, has just been named Mr. Universe. Tonya Goen Bergfeld is obtaining ownership of an egg farm. Judy Heuerman and Barb Steele have completed their book How to Make a Good Conversation. Mary Blom and Sandy Winter have finally finished painting the ceiling of the world's largest discotheque on Bourbon Street in New Orleans. Pam Jennings was just elected the first woman mayor of Heartville, While shopping in Fig Star, owned by Bobby Newton and managed by Mike Meitzner, I ran into our good friend Debbie Manuel who just returned from her honeymoon on Spencer's Mountain. Again, I discovered more information about our former classmates. Wanda Babbs, due to financial conditions is driving a 1936 Ford rather than her 1986 Cadillac, Sandy Triplett and Roger Sechrest traveled to France where they have replaced Margot and Jacques Farre in the French films, Joanne Bushue Byers is the Vice President of Byers' Accounting Firm, Carol Bahrns Hoeffliger lives on a farm with Roger. Terry Ashley has opened a Marshall Fields store with Debby Robertson and Karen Brewer as head clerks. Barbara and Charles Nelson have a prosperous, little business with Stevens' Antenna, Before leaving Fig Star, I noticed a new cake on the shelf discovered by Ruth Meyers, Linda Wendt, Marilyn Utz, and Vicki Holl- man, in the test kitchens of Betty Flop. Were you surprised to hear that Roy Rogers met a girl named Dale Evans and started a new TV series? Dennis Marxmann, Tom Townsend, and Larry Tonn are tri-owners of the largest farm in the State of Illinois. Sharon Leturno Bailey and Vicki Brooks Phillips have joined the WAVES. Judi Rush Miller works for the State Highway Department. Carolyn Hetzel and Gwen Payne have finally opened their

Steve Kaiser's and Paul Huntington's Edgewood Drag-O Way burned down the other day. This will be disheartening news to Linda Percival Poland who will not be able to drag her 86 Vette. I almost forgot to tell you about the main attraction of Effingham 's night life. The multi-millionaires Tom Britton and Dirk Anderson have converted the court house into a swingin' nightclub, Much of its success goes to J. C. Marshall's and Bill Whitehouse's band, The Bald Five, and to Bill Krueger, who manages the gambling floor. Credit is also due to Tony Matlock, the bouncer. Have you encountered any more of our classmates lately? Write soon and tell me what's going on in the windy city, Always, Jane Janet Wilhelms Lakeshore Drive Chicago, Illinois June 1, 1986 Dear Jane , On receiving your letter, I realized how little I have heard from some of my friends back home. Times have certainly changed. I was pleased to hear the accurate account of our classmates you have seen and heard from, I am equally sure that you will enjoy hearing of the ones I have had contact with. The doorbell rang the other dayg When I went to the door, Arvil Bass was standing there. He is a Boy Scout executive selling cookies. While conversing with him, Larry Ford drove by. Did you know that he is competing with A. J. Foyt at the Indianapolis '500? Several of our classmates are now famous. Remember Mike Askew? Have you seen the movie, The Group? It is tremendous, I was really amazed to see the lead parts played so well by Candace Moeller, Jean Conour, Roberta Evans, Lydia Sigafus, Cheryl Barton, and Terry Slifer. They all displayed outstanding talent. That reminds meg Jack Conour received his PhD. from Vassar in that new course, twinology. The latest gossip in and around Chicago is the resignation of Pat Fitzsimmons as head coach at Minne- sota, Rumor has him going to Newton, Illinois, And, believe it or not, Bob Griffin was refused residen- cy here due to his attitude. He thinks using an anesthetic is busy work. Garret and Susan Wagner opened a school for gifted children--theirs! I talked to Susan only the other day. She visited in Cham- paign and had seen Patsy Soltwedel, Donna Yeakel, Karen Bingman, and Ann Brown. They had all just
